One of the best graduation speeches I've seen to date. His juggle of words, contemporary culture, wise words, history and jokes in 13 minutes was pretty impressive. He makes it look easy.

+Samuel Hauptmann van Dam I think his speech at Northwester university in 2011 is even better, if not the best graduation speech I've heard.

How fun. It's great that he doesn't bore them with a pile of empty 'motivational' quotes but delivers with sincerity and humor.

Hey, this is actually Dean Shore, the campus barber mentioned that day. Just have to add, it was probably the single most shocking/surprised moment of my life when he mentioned my name.

After he made the integration joke, the camera immediately panned over the graduating class at 4:55. It made me realize that Stephen has amazing eyesight because I cannot see how they kept it up.

What is interesting is how the newscasters only called it funny when near the end it was more honorable and didn't give much thought about everything else other than the jokes.

Honorary doctorates being given out send such a contradictory message. Someone giving advice to someone else who has actually worked for that degree.
@redmed105 жыл бұрын
yaggyplantationproductions It's become a bit of an American tradition. Doesn't really happen in the UK. Well honorary doctorates are given out but not televised in front of thousands of students. You know he had his speech written by his team of writers. The nearest thing we have of honours given to inappropriate people in the UK are knighthoods.
