"Wormholes is one of the two short films (the other being The Green Beret, which is found on KZfaq) created and produced by Spongebob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg at CalArts in 1992. Aside from it and The Green Beret having been exhibited internationally in such festivals as Annecy, Hiroshima, Ottawa, Oberhausen and the Los Angeles Animation Celebration, Wormholes has not surfaced online in any form." - From the Lost Media Wiki

I think it’s about life through the eyes of the fly, all the alphabetic numerals and formulas were the thoughts of the fly and his comprehension, and maybe when the cow shits it’s the formula for Co2 or whatever else is in cow shit

Me either. He said it was about the theory of relativity.
@guilldea
@guilldea 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if there's much to get but there are several mentions to relativity, the formulas you see are part of them. Relativity states (among other things) that the passage of time and measure of space we perceive is different depending on our velocity, the faster you move the "slower" time moves for you and space appears compressed in the direction of travel (of course we don't experience this in our daily lives since you'd have to be moving at velocities close to that of the speed of light). You can see that compression illustrated in the cows for example

A well-regarded scientist who really just wanted to make art. There's a good lesson to be learned here about dreams, sometimes the best path isn't the most conventional one. If he hadn't taken the physics classes he did in college and had gone directly into art, he likely never would've produced the masterpiece that would eventually win him his most well-remembered and profitable accomplishment.

Love it. This is the beauty of animation. The ability to let your imagination run wild and play with reality. It may be impossible to interpret but there is creative genius in this. Steve obviously upped his storytelling game with SpingeBob but there is a certain reckless abandon in all of his work which is what makes it special.

Great stuff, Hillenburg was part of the experimental animation program in CalArts at the time. Another alumni from that program includes Henry Selick, the director of Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
