excellent tutorial - just a little note. You don't need to leave Keynote to create the mask for the sliding graphs. You can use the tools under [format]>[shapes and llines]>and then [unite] or [intersect] or [subtract] or [exclude]

I just picked up Keynote for a new client and your videos helped me a ton! Coming from 10 years of PowerPoint Design, Keynote is much slower to design in for sure, lots of missing functionality (maybe I just missed them) navigating the canvas with a scroll wheel, manipulating multiple shapes at once, shape masking to an existing shape, animation copy/pasting, etc. That said I liked Keynotes layout significantly more which feels dumb cause everything was so much slower. Like I won't be going out of my way to use it just because all the little time sinks add up when a paying client is involved but if I was designing just for myself and I had the luxury to take my time then I could see my self using this.

Regarding the layer grid you use to make the "Move In" transition not come from bottom there is a very easier way than using Screenshot and Photoshop. You can do all from Keynote. 1st step : display the layers panel (CMD + MAJ + L) 2nd step : duplicate all your grey backgrounds (so we can then remove them) 3rd step : create a white square same size as frame 4th step : move all duplicated grey backgrounds before the white square 5th step : select them all and in Format > Disposition > Substract Way easier ! :)

Thanks so much. I’m relatively new to Keynote (from PowerPoint) and found this Masterclass re Animation super helpful. Thanks. I’d be interested to see if you can offer guidance on animation using Apple Pencil to make the marks on the slide, so it looks like the drawing is being created before your very eyes. I first saw the idea of Drawing Animation from Doug Neil at ‘Verbal to Visual’
@StephenGates
@StephenGates 3 жыл бұрын
That one thing I have no created and Keynote on iPad is so limited I don't think you can do it. I would probably screen record me doing the drawing and then bring it into Keynote so I would have animation of the drawing and would be able to break it up into slides or add elements on top of it.

OMD’s Stephen. U r a flipping star. I was watching a video of someone who added these effects and I was tryna replicate but they never reply when u asked them. That flip change colour effect, i was at that for a whole day tryna figure it out, hovered over ur video whilst watching other tutorials but ONLY u spoke properly about these extra features. Shoulda have watched urs all along and I would have done this in seconds. 😭. Either way. Thank u for this. And would seriously want more vids from u about more animations or the photoshop masking process. SUBSCRIBED.
