A great slide is obviously the foundation of any great presentation but there is more work that goes into it than most people think. We will look at the one foundational concept you always need to keep in mind and then redesign a commonly seen, overcrowded slide into something simple and impactful.

The tips starting from 14:45, the subtle time delay adjustments, totally change the way I thought of animating in Keynote. I've never thought that it should be "with" instead of "after" {previous build}. Using "with previous build" along with 0.3~0.5s delay makes it much easier to arrange the tempo of the animation. I learned a lot from the tutorial. Thank you !!
@StephenGates
@StephenGates 3 жыл бұрын
That is a real game changer. The 'after' delay is always too long for me and all my work uses 'with' since it gives yo use much more control and nuance. So glad to helped!

This was VERY helpful! I've been feeling kind of stale with the limited creativity at my job, want to be able to offer this service for my freelance business and never used keynote, so I wanted to add it to my skills for presentations and slide decks. I was wondering what made it so better than just another Powerpoint, but found your tutorial and you quickly convinced me. I always get so irritated when I see people with paragraphs on slides (my job included) so I loved this simplicity! Thank you for this!

Hello hello Stephen. Just found your channel and binged all through. Love the work and all the insights on keynote which I didn't know earlier. I would like a few tips regarding the content in this video. When we slides with individual elements, was wondering is it possible to change the size of the second grouped element? So when communication slide is done you click on it, it moves to the next slide with communication sliding towards the left and chemistry coming in right. So is it possible when the chemistry comes in it bigger than the communication, when the next slide comes in diversity gets bigger and chemistry moves to the left while shrinking? I hope you get to see this and answer. Thanks

at minute 7:35, how did you duplicate it to break it down? I keep copy/pasting then I don't get a shrink bar on the bottom. Do you have a more basic tutorial that goes slower and has more specific direction for someone who is just starting out?
@kirstycarter
@kirstycarter 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen - thanks so much for your videos. I just made a keynote presentation that was so boring when we played it back that it lost our attention almost immediately. It wasn't as bad as your example but it was terrible. So I'll definitely use your ideas here. Another question - do you have a presentation about loading the slideshow onto a website. The Apple tutorial on this didn't help - I couldn't find the icon they referred to on my screen. I can't load it to You Tube because they only allow 15 minute movies and the keynote is longer. Thanks again!
@StephenGates
@StephenGates 3 жыл бұрын
It would depend on what type of site you would want to load it to but I would suggest three options - Services like slideshare.net are places where you can upload the deck and then use their service to embed it in your site - You can also try File > Export to > HTML but in my experience this is BUGGY unless your deck is pretty simple. Some of the more complicated slides in my decks turn into a dumpster fire. - You could also do a screen record through your Mac and then embed the video in your site or upload it to KZfaq.
@kirstycarter
@kirstycarter 3 жыл бұрын
Stephen Gates - The Crazy One thank you! The screen record is a good idea and slideshare. I did try HTML and it was a bit of a mess. Thanks again. Kirsty

Hi Stephen, fellow designer here, I have an ordeal I'm hoping you could help me with. I made extensive Keynote masters for my client, and they would like it all to be transferred into Google Drive for future uses by non-Mac users. Problem: Drive doesn't convert my masters, only the presentation itself, and even then it messes it up quite a bit, too. I'm banging my head on the walls here. Is there a way to import my theme / Masters over to Google Slides? Thank you !!!
@StephenGates
@StephenGates 3 жыл бұрын
I will answer assuming you mean Google Slides instead of Google Drive. The problem is there is no good or easy way to do this. In the past I have exported my Keynote to the older Keynote 9 format or Powerpoint which usually works better with Slides and then imported that. I then had to go through and clean everything up but the import gave me a head start over starting from scratch.

Yes! that's what some too much talented company want from a designer. Save time and money also the attractive design.

@StephenGates
@StephenGates 3 жыл бұрын
It should be two slides with a Magic Move transition. Start by just doing the animation where the logo is at the bottom on slide 1 then on the middle on slide 2. Once that works go to slide 1 and set the opacity to 0 and that should do it
