The stepmom was suddenly faced with a divorce request from her husband. She didn't know why, and went digging. She found her stepdaughters contact in her husband's phone and assumed that it was some random young mistress that coerce her husband to leave the stepmom for the young mistress. The father found out and said that she's not a mistress, but his daughter. The stepmom just thought that he was lying and was some weird excuse he gave her to conceal his relationship with a mistress. So the stepmom blamed the divorce on her stepdaughter, and accused her of being a mistress that broke her marriage. She also realised that she wasn't able to get much from the divorce since most of her husband's wealth was the inheritance from the grandpa.... but the thing is... the inheritance was not entitled to the father/her husband .... but to the stepdaughter. The stepmom couldn't believe it and went hysterical.

It’s been a long time since i watch this, so maybe i was wrong, but as far as i can remember, isn’t her dad left them to rot when they were kids? Not to mention he left them with an insane mother. So i think he is as bad as fan jie’s parents. If i were andy, i’d be as cold as her. It doesn’t matter if he’s not perfect or he’s sorry. U just don’t leave your kids like that.

Maybe you didn't watch the previous season. Her father abandoned her mum and her, causing a lot of pain to Andy, her mom and her brother. He didn't exactly look for her too. It was Lao Tan and Andy's ex who made the effort to look for him, otherwise he would be fine with not knowing Andy at all.

All the art, financial assets, and property assets now belong to Andy coming from her maternal Grandfather.

not "houses". its a piece of real estate property, could mean acres of land. in shanghai and beijing thats hundreds of millions even if its outside the city center. it could be a condo or sprawling mansion. or art studio. like someone else said, art is sometimes more valuable. you never know, everyone invests differently.
