They wanted me to watch something scarier than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so we watched The Conjuring. Yes, I did not sleep very well that night

Some demons can produce a sound barrier that prevents others from hearing certain things. So in a big area or house a demon can terrorize someone by themselves and their friends nearby won’t hear them calling for help. In this case it prevented the kids from hearing the pictures falling and her talking loud and later screaming and banging it’s an insidious tool to isolate and corner victims.

I know it's been a couple months, but I didn't see any reference when I scrolled through other comments. Older houses had wide gaps in the walls to allow servants to move around unseen (as in visitors wouldn't be bothered by maids in the way). The passages were usually just walled over as the need (or wealth) for servants was no longer common.

Ghosts and hauntings are my favorite kind of horror story/movie. I'm NOT particularly interested in possession stories, but this franchise manages to mix in plenty of other stuff that I enjoy them anyway.

Something to keep in mind about hauntings is that the spirit can be powerful enough to put everyone else on a bubble to basically disorient them so that way they aren’t aware of the danger going on, to the one person who isn’t in the bubble who’s more sensitive to the spirit. So in this case, Bathsheba put the girls in a bubble so they wouldn’t hear the pictures falling down, and their mom screaming.

Absolutely! Fear is a subjective thing. What scares me might not scare you. Fears can “planted” into our subconscious, often in early childhood. One strange encounter with an ugly doll at 1 yr can turn into a lifetime fear of all dolls. Fear is a fascinating thing, don’t you think?😘

Then the series quickly degenerated into a jumpscare fest and they started forgetting why the Annabelle doll scared people in the first place. Originally you never saw it move but you could hear it moving and doing things offscreen. The later ones just have it move and full on show the demon possessing it. Making a full on cinematic universe also ruined it. Just because the MCU succeeded doesn't mean everything has to be part of a big connected universe.

the conjuring is one of the best universes of supernatural horror films i have ever come across; it is made up of the conjuring films, the Annabelle doll films and some other miscenalous films that all are interconnected on some level. In case your interested i will list all of the films connected to the series in chronological order so you can watch them if you like: The Nun, Annabelle Creation, Annabelle, Annabelle Comes Home, The Conjuring, The Curse of La Llorona (the curse of the weeping woman, it's in English don't worry), The Conjuring 2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it. All of these are interlinked somehow; The Nun is connected to the Conjuring 2 and slightly to Annabelle Creation....La Llorona has one scene that mentions the priest in it was the same one who tried to stop Anabelle in the first "Annabelle" film. A lot of people think La Llorona ha no connection to the series but it does.

+Tasha Tipton Insidious is another great movie that is really scary but really well written as well! also if you are looking for a horror SHOW Haunting of Hill House on Netflix is really scary but also is a very great story….a really well written story that explores really deep themes that’ll have you feeling every emotion under the sun.

The Conjuring universe movie franchise is very good There are 3 Conjuring films, 3 Annabelle films, 1 Nun film, and 1 curse of La Llorona film, all these films are all connected, basically the films are based on real life stories from the real Ed and Lorraine Warren

This movie is the best one out of all the 6 in my opinion and just so you know the real story is a lot scarier than the movie showed...James tonned it down to be able to get a lower rating then R but of course it didn't work. In the real story the mother was never possesed just attacked and abused. Beth-Shiva was a dangerous entity but she wasn't the main one and she isn't the one who hung herself that was the more agressive spirit and she hung herself in the barn. The Warrens only had a small part in this case so it seems because them being there only agrivaited the spirits more so they did eventually leave so it seems. There are a lot of things that were different here including the buying of the house because it wasn't on auction from the bank and the husband had no idea his wife took out most of their money to put it in the house and buy it and the original owner didn't want to sell it but his son was making him do so.

The Annabelle doll was made in the 1950's by a dollmaker and back then it was actually quite common for dolls to be that big and in that style...also she wasn't as battered and dirty XD also i love the dog...lol he like "yeeeeaaah...nope...i'm staying out here."

OMG it was 100% a joke and I put that in there about Emma being ashamed to be white, she didn't say it so that's not on her....lots of pop culture has made fun of people (mostly white) not being the smartest in horror movies or are the ones likely to stay in the house no matter what crazy shit is going on. The sad part is that after they left the Farm they did split up even they sisters were separated, even tho now they still love and see each other, Andrea Perron tells in her books they were never the same again now in the present they all are still alive execpt for April Perron the youngest sister who passed a few years ago.

I think I'd stay out of that cellar if I were them. I felt bad for the mother falling down the steps. They should have tucked their feet in when they went to bed. Jeez, after the pictures on the wall by the stairway went flying it would've been a good plan to get out of there. Have you ladies seen An American Werewolf In London? It was a 1980's classic. Everyone wonders why the girls didn't hear the pictures falling but in truth in reality that house was so much bigger and their rooms were not that close to the stairs so I doubt they would hear it if it happened in another part of the house though the movie doesn't explian that which is a shame.

@@joshuasimber8588 : I really thought Kirk and Pamela's death scene highly disturbing; You can hear Kurt's skull crack (loudly) once Leatherface struck him with that sledgehammer and poor Pamela being lifted up by that scary maniac and dropped on a meat hook vicious. And as she is still alive feeling what I could only put it as unimaginable pain and psychological panic; wiggling on that thing made me freaked out. It was like actually watching a homicide film...

@@joshuasimber8588 : Did you ever see "Friday the 13th" (1980)? Good gore, slit throats and impalements. I've seen the original "Friday the 13th" about 100 times! I consider it a "classic" and classify it as the original "slasher movie" of the genre. I almost seen that movie back in 1980, June, instead my uncle and auntie took me to see "The Shinning." I was 12 yrs old so I was too young to view R rated movies even though I seen plenty on HBO (Home Box Office), in those days that was a blessing; all the movies that were released a year prior were now available then. I distinctly remember the man working at the theater that evening telling me that "Friday the 13th" was really scary and that I was too little to watch it alone, lol. Because up to that time, that type of slasher movie was unheard of except of course John Carpenter's "Halloween" & Bob Clark's "Black Christmas" - which is another great horror movie. @@joshuasimber8588 I agree!! The unknown is so much scarier, especially if you have a rich and fertile imagination! Who knows what eldritch horror lurks in the dark, patiently waiting until we are alone, plotting and planning our demise, or worse, our capture. In the dark there are old things, ancient things, things that have existed before time immortal, and to them we are nothing but food.

This is a crazy movie! About The clap game, The real Andrea Peron said they never played the clap game! But much of what happens in this movie really actually happened. The Actual Annabelle is a Raggedy Ann Doll, and is locked away safe in a glass case! The Real Lorraine Warren can be seen in one of the lecture scenes! |Note: There is gonna be a 3 day Live online event from the Actual Conjuring house this weekend..with the Actual family members in Attendance!
