This record got me a job. I walked in an independent record shop on my regular Friday payday back in the 80’s and asked for it. They didn’t have it so I ordered it. “Should I order a few” asked the manager. “Yes, it’ll sell” was my reply. A week later I was back in there and he asked if I wanted a job as he wanted to expand the soul, funk and hip hop sections. Within 2 years I was managing the store. Looking back that dream job happened far too early. Imagine being paid to listen to and sell music all day.

Singer,songwriter, drummer, producer & church minister Dayton Ohio's own, Steve Arrington first came to prominence as the lead vocalist on Slave's Just A Touch, and went on from strength to strength after leaving Slave in 1983 for a solo career, this track blew up big time in 1985 from his Dancing In The Key of Life album, which further enhanced his credentials

This song will always be a JAM to me like it was in 1985. Time ahs flown so fast for me. I was 20 in 1985 and now I am 56. I still dance to this like I am still 20!

This is one of those tunes that seem to have got lost in obscurity somewhat, the fleeting blur of the 80’s. And yet when you hear it, you get hit with such a fun crisp vibe. Defo one to get up and dance to! Then again this is the 80’s in its entirety !!!❤️💕💕

Before I gave my life to Christ I was rocking out to this never knowing it was a Gospel song. This what happens when you take Steve with his Slave background and make a Gospel anthem. The results are amazing.

This is such a cool song. For some reason this song just came into my mind. I was a teenager in the 80’s and remember this song coming on the radio. Steve Arrington was probably on Top of The Pops back in the day. I do miss 80’s and 90’s funk and soul. The days before auto tune. 😀 I love it that his voice isn’t perfect and is authentic. I didn’t even know who sang the song, first time seeing him. Had no idea he passed over. God rest his soul.

I was a club DJ when this came out and it ALWAYS packed the floor and I have requests for it dozens of times a night. I hadnt heard it for YEARS Then Greatest Hits Radio played it on the Saturday night vibe and I remembered how much I loved this song! This is so typical of the happy 'disco era' 80's!! They will never be beaten!
