I lived in the same bungalow that The Dude lived in, circa 1970. It was on Venice Blvd, east of the old police station. For the movie, they turned the bedroom into a huge tiled bathroom. I looked it up on Google Earth, and the bungalows were painted purple, and a couple of years later, they were painted black. Then they were torn down, and replaced by brand new tacky looking buildings.

I watched more than 20 times and am gonna watch it again. Every time I watch I dive deep and discover something new behind every line, setup and storyline. Very well crafted scripting, sending messages in all directions, I dare to say irony becomes a fetish, it is nonstop. You can not grab one actor out of this movie. There are many huge actors but in a whole this movie makes senses. My last words, you do not need to an american to love this movie. As tale teller says in the end, it is a "human comedy"

The movie I first saw Steve in was Airheads 😅 but my favourite movie of his is Living In Oblivion. I didn’t see TBL or RD until my late teens as I wasn’t interested in movies until I got injured playing sports and had some free time while healing up lol

Woo! I’m Throwing Rocks Tonight

Spot on: everybody wants to be The Dude. But that film truly is a treasure and is not only one of the best from the Coen brothers, but is generally just one of those films that works on every level. As perfect as a film can be. And Steve Buscemi is an amazing talent. I've never seen him in a bad movie or play a character badly - he is to acting what The Big Lebowski is to cinema. The most recent thing I've seen him in was Boardwalk Empire and it is under-appreciated within the canon of excellent TV shows that started with The Sopranos and includes The Wire, Mad Men, Ozark and most recently, Succession which in itself shows that the format is far from dying. There are other shows and there were shows that "broke the mould" that came before, such as the excellent Twin Peaks, within that league but in the case of Buscemi, Boardwalk Empire is fantastic and it was satisfying to see such a brilliant actor get a leading role. Well deserved and places him firmly in the league of the great actors of our time. 'I am the Walrus!'.
