Steve Coogan is back as Alan Partridge, bringing a brand-new comedy show to Ireland in April 2022, so JOE had a chance to catch up with the legendary comedian to talk about the much-loved character.
On top of that, Coogan also discusses the return of "Martin from Sligo", the interest from Hollywood from the Oscar attention he got for Philomena, potentially bringing The Trip to Ireland, and why "punching up" in comedy is so important.

I can't think of a single comic character as consistently funny as Alan Partridge. Who else could make the word 'Strategem' funny?! I have *never* anticipated anything as much as this show, and I used to get the 62 from Stephen's Green to Goatstown regularly.
@chrisbfreelance
@chrisbfreelance 2 жыл бұрын
I personally consider This Time to be the most inconsistent Partridge vehicle in terms of quality and laughs, but thats the fornat not Alan and Steve doing Alan. Alan Partridge is pound for pound the most consistently funny and excellent comedy character in human existence. There are no other characters that have gone on this long and remained so fresh, The Simpsons have the length of time but it's been dire for over ten years.

Comedian, impressionist and someone who has enriched my life with his comic creations and now an astonishing actor whom (who?😀) has his finger on the humanist pulse. However it’s his self awareness and philosophical approach to his life and surroundings that has enriched me more. A voice of reason and long may he resonate……
