This is from the same time period as Chuck Mangione's album titled "Alive" with a monstrous young Tony Levin on bass. It has an amazing Gadd drum solo on a tune called "High Heeled Sneakers", along with an incredible bass solo by Levin on the same track. The entire album is a live recording, with great sound engineering to capture the performance perfectly. Very cool to see the video of the same time period! Wow! Gratitude!

This is simply amazing. 99% sure ive never seen this. It's amazing to see Steve playing with his childhood friend Chuck Mangione! I also like how you can see a lot of his ideas early on! His feel is second to none even in the early 70s and his snare drum technique is beautiful. Thanks for posting this one!

I'm just overwhelmed with emotion and happiness. Montreux Jazz Festival 1972 : at Casino, Montreux, Switzerland 23rd June 1972? Ever since I first heard Steve Gadd 45 years ago, I had been looking for him for a long time because I was told that the way he played background music with Chuck Mangione was amazing. I was so happy to be able to see it in this form and on video that my eyes were glued to it! ! Like Chuck Mangione, Rochester, New York. We are from the same hometown, so we are old friends😃 The style of hitting is well established, with the addition of a cowbell in the middle. Groove while creating a unique undulating rhythm 🎶 The use of the hi-hat is also wonderful ✨ After this Chick Corea al di meola White Elephant by Mike Mainieri & Friends And to the staff Thank you very much for sharing this valuable video✨ ただただ感慨無量で嬉しいです Montreux Jazz Festival 1972 : at Casino, Montreux, Switzerland 23rd June 1972なのでしょうか❓ 45年前スティーヴ・ガッドを聞き初めてからチャック・マンジョーネのバックで叩いているのが凄いと言われて長い間探していました。

OMG he looks like Gene Simmons (without makeup naturally). Steve Gadd is THE MAN behind the kit ! Never repeating a fill a constant wizard of variation, but also playing variations of the tempo in a song without ever losing the "feel"and groove, or ever coming out of "the pocket". Check out the song "All of You" by Don Felder used on the movie "Heavy Metal". A "masterclass" For you drummer's out there. :)

Don’t forget his best set Pearl Fiberglass…in 70ties
@kevinconway2417
@kevinconway2417 Жыл бұрын
@@RubenvanRoonDrumChannel I wasn't even aware of that kit. My very 1st kit in the early 90's (I'm 45 now, so was around 15 when I first got into drums), was a Frankenstein type kit for 250 bucks. The BD was a 24 I believe. Marked 'Pearl Fiberglass' in a marine swirl. Then I had a Pearl snare, 3 Yamaha Silver mirror concert toms. Nothing matched. I was so ignorant to drums at the time, I just assumed my BD was an old Piece of Crap from the 70s, so entry-level, that it was Fiberglass. Sold that kit for like 500, after adding cymbals and a few extra stands at Daddys Junky Music. 😆 Thought I did good. Between the bass, concert Tom's, snare and ALL early 80s Yamaha Hardware, plus some dirty old original Zildjian As not marked; I may have well as threw it away at that price in around 1995. Was saving for my 1st used car. 🚗 🤣 Ignorance was not bliss at the time. Thought I had junk. Little did I know I just didn't know how to tune/play as a beginner. Will never forget that 1st drum set 🥁🥺

@@mellilorei would bet that he just used what was there at the moment. A lot of studios had a supra as a standart. And i'm sure he'd just brought his cymbals while the drums are already at the location. I just can't imagine, he'd carry his drums to every session he was at . . . 🤔 but maybe he did
