OMG this guy .... Never heard this until now. This is a straight up hit song. The lyrics, that slide 😳😳 Steve would’ve either propelled Skynyrd to even bigger popularity and success into the 80s OR broke out into a successful solo career. What a loss 🥺

How cool was it that Steve played Skynyrd cover tunes in his sets cause he love the music and then one day to audition for them and get the job before he could walk off stage.... now that is a story that not too many guitar players can say to this day... not many if any at all.... Steve with them crawdad fingers.... incredible!!!

Yeah, Cassie got hired first , she was a professionally trained singer, she begged Ronnie to take a listen to her brother , Steve Gaines, and Ronnie liked Steve's music and hired him. Billy Powell was a roadie /crew member, Ronnie overheard Billy playing Freebird on piano and hired him into the actual band and told him, ' do you know how to play rock & roll?' Billy I believe said, 'no' ( as Billy was a trained pianist on classical piano, but Ronnie put him under his wing and southern rock spell, none better then Lynyrd Skynyrd and it's band members!
