@feroz khan shakil Agree about your comment on Kyokushin vs MDK TKD. Muay Thai is a more complete striking art with better clinching tech. so I give Muay Thai the edge, but much less than a lot of martial arts where there is no sparring or live training. Have a nice day!
@leonardoacuebos1742 жыл бұрын
@@ericdelabyme1866 Muay Thai does not teach front foot side kick and rear foot stomping front kick, only the pro players of Muay Thai use it now!

As a friend, he is fun to be with, no dull moment, he is down to earth and will always be there to protect. Both of us coming from PHIL. MOO DUK KWAN. To Master Steve, its been lyk 9 yrs since i was ur student. Wherever u r,I will always remember ur teachings. Im proud of u. No matter what. Peace to all!

No, Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo (Chungdokwan) and Shorin Ryu dominated the stand up traditional martial arts circuits in 60s and 70s era, called "blood and gut era" Shotokan sometimes had good fighters while Kyokushin were nowhere near top level during this time period.

Sorry ejectro, TKD is a lethal martial art with strikes from hand, foot, elbow, knee and head, delivered to areas on the body to render a person injured or dead. I'm not a TKD apologist however as my own 26 years martial arts training has taken me in Muay Thai, kung fu and JKD. I did however learn some very good techniques and without some of the kicking techniques i carried through, the other arts studied would have been poorer without them. Take another look at TKD.

Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do (Soo Bahk Do) and Tae Kwon Do have very little in common.. Infact Tang Soo Do has more in common with Shotokan most of the forms are the same and so are alot of the techniques. Tang Soo Do uses it's upper body and hands where as Tae Kwon Do doesnt.
@RakaiThwei16 жыл бұрын
As a Tang Soo Do practicioner myself.. I have to say... THIS IS WHAT TSD SHOULD BE LIKE!! We seriously need to put the fight back in it and abandon the damn point sparring.

I don't know the difference between differing styles of taek won do. though it seems in this style of tkd has take downs and grappling to a degree. what is the difference between itf, wtf, and ata(though from what I've read is a watered down version of tkd). I would appreciate it if some could explain
@mrcampo197 жыл бұрын
moo duk kwan is a hybrid style, it was started by a tae kwon do master but he incorporated juijitsu, traditional karate and judo into the style. It is very street effective. It is not kick focused like traditional tae kwon do.
@ericdelabyme18665 жыл бұрын
@@mrcampo19 This is the most efficient style of martial arts self defense I saw among all those coming from Korea. Comparing it to a combative sport like Taekwondo is not relevant. Comparing it to the other self-defense styles of Korea put them on top. I expected to see fake fights, unworkable standup wrist techniques, etc and saw this instead!!! The striking is good to great. Grappling is average to weak. Fighting spirit = through the roof! (great!!!)
@ericdelabyme18665 жыл бұрын
I cannot find anything good to say about ATA. To easily distinguish the styles, look at the fighting rules. Itf is point system and light contact. Olympic style use full rounds and it's full contact. Both are limited as self-defense system because there are no punch (real or controlled, ) to the head,, no elbow/knee strikes, no headbutts, and no grappling at all. Olympic style will help you to be in great physical shape! I hope that helped.

Yeah it was weird that people were clinching in and getting in so close... it wasn't very clean either. But that was pretty incredible anyway. SOO BAHK!!!! I still like to see the super powerful kicks in full contact. Only Cung Le in MMA tends to do that sort of thing... even his kicks aren't as impressive as the ones in this video.

Tang soo do versus Kyokushin Karate under knockdown rules.... looks exciting although as in most bare knuckle knockdown the lack of punching head strikes (same as in WTF TKD) means sloppy defences for the out of the blue head kick....gets 'em every time. This is a great way to test ones endurance though under continued assault...respect!

fortunately for ITF practitioners this isn't the case. You have been observing WTF Tae Kwon do ejectro...thats Olympic style - full contact tag. Its not what i practised for many many years throughout the 80's and 90's. check out itfukraine or watch the Warren Vice sampler..just type those in for instance and you will see hand techniques used in competition.

You make me laugh. I know the guy. Not personally, perhaps, but more by reputation, although I've personally seen him fight. And the main reason he can't get fights in Manila is because Manila-based fighters turn down offers or opportunities to fight him, afraid that they'll get dominated.

As far as I know Moo Duk Kwan is a striking only art right? From the video above you can see elements of grappling like kimono grabbing and inside hook takedowns. Maybe if you'd fight 'real' MMA fighters you'd really be able to test the efficiency of Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bahk Do in full contact fighting.

Ive been doing Moo Duk Kwan for 27 years now.. Yes Tae Kwon Do teaches these "Hand techniques" but when it comes time to apply them to actual fight they just drop thier hands and use only thier feet. it's not disrespect, it's just the truth.

true martial artists knows how to control his/her anger..master steve and sir bryan did great and so is their opponents..all martial arts are bests in their way..so please stop arguing..good day..i am also a practitioner of the moo duk Kwan soo bahk do..and i think other martial arts are good in their way..so if you discriminate a martial art and you are a member of another martial art then i can consider you hypocrites..all i knew is that martial arts also teaches students good values
@ericdelabyme18665 жыл бұрын
A respectful way to discriminate between styles, is to examine the training methodology. Not all martial arts are equal, some are actually dangerous to their practicioneer giving them a false self-confidence because of the flaw of their training and the weakness of their technique. So my point is that the training must be as alive as possible and the sparring light to medium with heavy sparring sporadically. I understand and agree with almost all of your points. Sadly we need to discriminate to weed out the mcdojos and the charlatans. Love your attitude and respect!

If you had taken the time to read Ephasm you would have noticed that i said that i have taken the good stuff out of TKD and moved on, and there is good stuff in that and any martial art. NO it ain't all flashy kicks. Granted it doesn't major on knees n elbows like Muay Thai, but how many knee techniques does one need in a street situation. Its a Martial Art not a sport. So no mate its not BALLS, its about belief, commitment and using what works. ONCE not five times.

Of course Tae Kwon do uses its hands! its a martial art first and foremost. Yes, Tang Soo Do DOES upon first glance look like Shotokan but that was only to fool japanese observers during their occupation. Other than that its as Shotokan as rice pudding is caviar.

Tae Kwon Do is a Sport. And the hand techniques you throw are only to score a point regardless how it looks they are ineffective in a real fight and lack the potential to injure.. hence why Tae Kwon Do never has survived in k-1 or a real full contact fight. Ver Pretty.. But yet again.. Noting but a Sport.. Er.. read again and youl see how many years.

This devolves a bit too much into street brawl territory with technique falling by the wayside. Still, I vastly prefer this to the neutered form of sparring known as Olympic style that I had to practice at the Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do school I went to.

It's a fight, not a dance. Only makes sense that things gets a little frayed.
@ericdelabyme18665 жыл бұрын
These fights were nowhere near street brawl territory and while the athletes showcased were good strikers, there were no elbows or knee strikes, no headbutts. On their feet they knew how to handle themselves. Their lack of stand-up clinching techniques, lack of efficient take-downs and poor ground technique is the true weakness of that art. Stil I have the utmost respect for the fighters of Team Grandeza and since the rules of the tournament were not shown some of my points may be false. Much better than what we saw at most McDojo. I have confidence that they would be able to defend themselves in most street scenarios because they fight for real, no point system and full contact. Congrats!!! Just watching them is motivation for training hard!
