Coursera brought me here :-) The focus and simplicity Jobs highlights is really appealing. What struck me was, he's so confident in his vision that he's prepared to talk about people in the team who'd had projects cancelled buying into and being excited about the new direction. Not sure how true this was, I imagine many of them would have been concerned about job security, but he sells this really well :-)

What made me feel energised and impacted by Steve Jobs' words was his spontaneous way and self-confidence to share his vision on Apple's potential to grow and write a new story in company chapter. He agrees that Apple has had his own learnings and will not be compared by Windows and other competitors, but its strenghts and values as a brand, a product and distribution will be its direction and strategy. Steve Jobs communicates clearly a shared purpose and inspires individuals that this vision is real and possible.

Not only is he talking about complex things with diluted words (which helps to engage more rapidly with the crowd), but is also encouraging the people to believe in the idea he has about Apple, which reminds me of the idea he had, "believing first in your proposal before explaining it to others so others could believe in it also".

It was clear and succinct on what the three Pilars would be and easy to follow for employees at all levels.

He talked a lot about going back to basics and simplifying everything to be able to regain focus. I really liked the way he expressed himself in a very simple, honest and even basic kind of way. I don't mean it in a bad way, more like he was not redundant, or nor did he overly embellish what he had to say. He went straight to his point and lay it all out, saying what they had done, why and what would be changing, period. Also, always saying in it in a sense of "we", as including everybody as a team, making them feel a part of, motivated, like they are most definitely an important and necessary part to begin to generate that change. He was smooth and did not repeat himself unnecessarily, just made sure he emphasized what he wanted them to know was their goal as a team, and not what hey had to try to maybe achieve, but say it in a way that they will get there for sure and soon.

I was inspired by him sharing about his vision and thoughts about Product Line, he said marketing is all about Value and how to restore back vitality and relevance was great approach as a leader, he gave a good example about Nike, it was never about their shoes, it was about how best they made the Athletes feel, they valued people more. I like this sort of leadership.

A great balance between simple and effective words. The "great great great" reminds me the song "One Vision" by Queen and it is the part that most impressed me, personally. But he communicates to 360° also thanks to the use of body language: any move wisely underlines words and concepts, shortening the distance between him and the spectators.

I can observe the following. 1. He share the connect with his team members who are sitting as audience, which can be observed from his smile at the start of the speech itself. 2. "Back to the Basics" is the first critical thought he passed to his team... 3. The emphasis on Simple and Best is quite understandable and clear in itself. 4. He criticised the team using "Drifted Away" & "Lost Focus" in a very polite way and in a manner where no one should feel humiliated and take offence. 5. He passed his thought "To be more focussed, Work on Basic features first, Achieve the Best Quality, Team Work etc." in plain simple english, which are easy to understand by all.
