Making it my goal for the rest of 2020 your deep dive devil-went-down-to-Georgia series have been the most game changing lesson series on youtube in fact .. It blows my mind that if we were in 07 youtube days this kind of breakdown would make everyone's heart go faint and likely have a million views by 2020 without fail 😉🤟🙏 *thanks for all that you've done for us steve* - Adam

Not only are you an incredibly talented musician, but you're also such a nice and humble guy, taking the time to break down and teach every solo you played on that song, and also responding to almost every comment in your videos speaks volumes about how fond you are of people who grew up with the amazing original songs in the GH games (like this one) and started playing guitar thanks to them (like me). Killer lesson man, greetings from Colombia.

You're too kind, thank you! It was such a blast to revisit the song after all these years. As for being transparent, I've got nothing to hide. Steve ! *I really hope you see this now I want to say *Thank you SO freaking much* A message/ thank you from me and my 12 yr old past self incoming ! . In 2007 I finally started taking guitar lessons after begging the parents for a year and the 5 things at the time that made me want to play guitar and put away the toys, gameboy, xbox etc (all the other hobbies and dive into music basically LOL) were: - *guitar hero in general* - *that american dad episode stan's friend plays a devil guitar solo* - *Coliseum rock by the band Starz* - *George lynch's REH lesson video from 1989* - *Lou's victory solo (YOU) in this song* ! 🔥 I never ever expected a tutorial to come from THE man himself and the whole backstory , history, gear used and how to approximate it and play it step by step today 13 years later?! Were all so fkng lucky how can this be! For real this is such a priviledge. . Just 3 days ago I was getting nostalgic and talking to my buddy how this whole song/duel is the best recorded guitar in video game history and then what do you know heres your awesome deep dive video series. Not to mention you play all these licks chalked full of all the 80s heros . Not that you care but my theory back then as a 12 year old was that lou aka your part *was secretly played by george lynch, chris Poland , vinnie moore, Marty friedman, and jeff Loomis just sitting in a studio as ghost writers trading licks* 😂 . again NO offense but that's just how *evil* this song you created for us sounded to me *without a doubt your victory solo sounds like george lynch from the mr scary 1987 era* but with an octaver and harmonizer 🤟😉 . Anyway I'll end with this thank you for doing this at all no time like the present! your devil solo lick on KZfaq 11 years ago was a huge tease but now you've outdone yourself truly and broke down this masterpiece for us. Learning to play any of these faster licks is going to be one hell of a challenge I started with #9 I cant learn them in order one after another they're too damn fiery 😂😂😂 *I CANNOT WAIT to see this victory solo* . cant say I'll be able to play that one to speed for a long time but it will be my goal. Cheers from Niagara Falls Canada I hope you stay safe healthy where you are in the world and for the next deep dive we 3 kings is cool... *BUT the rightful sequel* is clearly *lou's revenge next* 🙏 So we can learn a thing or two from a guy named steve *and a guy named lou* 😉🤟🤟🙏 Be well and myself and everyone else watching this video after all these years cant wait to see what's next. Best, - Adam

Adam! I don't even know what to say but, WOW! I'm so glad this has been a part of your experience in guitar in your life. I never would have expected this song to reach so many people on such a positive level, but it's been an incredible honor to be part of it. As for your 12-year self theory, it's not that far off, lol. Marty, Vinnie Moore and Lynch were big influences on me and to even be put in a category with them is humbling to say the least. Stay tuned for the Victory Solo (I'm just wrapping up another couple of game projects and haven't been able to film that segment yet) and then We Three Kings and many more. Maybe Lou's Revenge too :-)

I'm from Brazil and I play Guitar Hero 3 for about 10 years, I always loved this version of The Devil Went Down To Georgia, and certainly it was one of the main reasons why I started playing guitar ... I really wanted your work to be more recognized , you are definitely one of the best guitarists in the world 💓. I also really appreciate the soundtrack for The Crew 2, it's so amazing! @@ignaciocarabez9143 You are very welcome. It's funny, when I did the song originally it went by so fast, but it took me a good long time to get the parts under my fingers again. And I wish I'd have done the video with the guitar setup better with lighter gauge strings like 9's. Would have made it so much better. Lou's Revenge, eh? That would be a fun revisit!
