Lyrics:
I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
With each passing hour
Someone somehow
Will be there, ready to share
I need a love that's strong
I'm so tired of being alone
But will my lonely heart play the part
Of the fool again
Before I begin
Foolish heart, hear me calling
Stop before you start falling
Foolish heart, heed my warning
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong any more

I was very young in the 80s, hell, I was only 9 when he became a solo artist the second time, but Im glad I lived to see those days. Music was awesome then.

It was agonizing to say the least. What helped me get through it was listening to Journey A LOT!!! 2 years later in 1983 the summer after I graduated HS I got to see them in concert and it was AWESOME!!!! I'll up that the other 100th of a %. But, gotta say that holds true for most of the icons of music from the mid 20th century right up to about the last 15 years of it and then the music just died in the hearts of the performers...it was all about the money and the moves or something. But it just veered off into repetitive words and a beat for working out to on exercise video. Gone were the masters of the industry. There were a few here and there that had the soul and heart and they are still with us today. But nothing like these. Maybe predjudiced, but I listen to all kinds of genres. Used to work in the distributing of entertainment music and then movies and it's always these who's words crop up in everyday conversations that add flair and perspective, because they're just as relevant now as they were then. I've even heard sermons where priests/pastors use their lyrics to make a point - and the congregations, a mix of young and old alike - nod, knowing exactly what is meant by the reference. Ran a daycare in the early 80's - 2002 and the adults those kids became, to this day, will listen to, and prefer, these artists to their own generation's. Maybe had something to do with not spending your hard earned money on owning a classic, or because it's free to download; it was cheap and not supportive of the artists, so they did one hit wonders and vanished. ?? Not sure, but as the group America once sang...bye-bye ms american pie I drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and Rye, singing this'll be the day that I die.... the day the music died.

Mark Maratea they’re both great but Steve Perry’s voice is unbelievably gorgeous. I get goosebumps whenever I listen to him. Go listen to “She’s Mine” “Oh Sherrie” “You better wait” “Young Hearts Forever” from his solo albums (there are more) and watch “Mother Father” “Wheel in the Sky” where he synchronizes his voice to Schon’s guitar from Journey Live in Houston. He’s amazing, no autotune or backing tracks.

This is one of those timeless songs. It's so raw and embodies all of those feelings of angst and vulnerability that comes with falling for someone...maybe the wrong someone. It's a perfect song paired with one of the most talented emotive singers of our time.

It's crazy ... I heard this song playing in Taco Bell the other day, and I was instantly transported back to a time where all the worries of my life were completely gone for a brief moment, and all the memories of my dearly departed dad flashed before me, since he was the one who first introduced me to this wonderful song when I was a kid, the day I walked into his makeshift art studio at our house and he was listening to this while he was painting! It seems anytime I hear this song playing, there's just this sudden feeling of peace & tranquility that comes over me, and all the negativity in this world goes right out the window ... at least until the song is over! 😩 THANK YOU Steve Perry! 👏 There will never be another voice like yours! Often imitated, but never duplicated....

I heard this song the other day and I instantly became emotional. Steve Perry was one of my mom's favorite singers and this was one of her favorite songs. I remember her playing the "Street Talk" album many times, singing along to "Foolish Heart" and "Oh, Sherrie" (another one of her favorites.) She passed away a few years ago and any time I hear a favorite song of hers I think about how much I miss her and how quickly time passes. I'm grateful for the time I did have with her and I cherish all the wonderful memories connected with the music she (and I) loved.

So much to say about this I remember being a kid 80s kid, five years old in the back of a colt vista singing every word, such a mysterious beautifully executed Melody, and there’s no one to replace Steve Perry in your song. 5000 years from now, someone hears this original recording. It’s gonna be touching specially when you grow up and understand these lyrics.❤❤❤❤ the intoxicating bass guitar . You have to go through something to write lyrics like this .

People who understand real music and can relate to song. Which doesn't sound just like every other song on the radio like the new generation seems to love. Open your mind and shut ur mouth

I haven't heard this song in years...decades. It just popped into my head. I wanted to hear it. I've always loved this song. Now I can hear it any time I want to.

This was one of my favorite songs in the 80’s when I was a kid. They don’t make timeless music like this anymore. Steve Perry is a musical genius😊

Anna Simanovicki I agree they both are great but its just only my opinion and that all that maybe I think that Steve is a little better on vocals (: not that Mercury wasn't a fantastic vocalist (: but like I said before Steve was something else (: intact the only other singer that I think belongs in this great trio of vocal talent is Robert Plant (: also phenomenal vocalist as well (: But too me Steve had something a more jazzier or more rnb soulful edge too him that allowed him even as he was hitting them perfect consistent high pitches (: It would allow him too rezenate that soulful quality into his vocal performances better than many other vocalist (: But not too say that Robert or Freddie didn't have the same vocal gifts (: They did but Steve like said was going somewhere else with it (: But true there great fantastic perfect vocalist the best on this planet period!!!!! (:
