Varmint Hunter1 Always wondered about the Journey groupie scene, but Steve honestly didn’t seem to be that type of rock star. At their height of success in Journey, he even got a separate trailer so his girlfriend could go on tour with them.

His live performances from 78 through the 80’s were a replica, if not better, than the recordings. His talent was jaw dropping and he always wanted to give fans 150%. Unfortunately that intense touring schedule over time took an obvious toll on his chords, but I’ll take a shorter burst of perfection over a lifetime of mediocre any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I remember being 13 when he was coming to Chicago on October 30th for this tour. Used my paper route money to by two tickets, and couldn’t find anybody in my family to take me. Still bugs the piss outta me when I think about it now.

Madeleine B. They were about to lose their contract because they didn't have a good enough singer. Steve Perry saved all of them, he made Journey what it is, they were all about to be on the street, they owe him for their success. They stabbed him in the back !!

I was a singer in the 70's and 80's, and by the 1990's Steve was going through what I was. It's called " Sorry to my Band, but I can't do 200 Fuggin shows this year, unlike you guys I can't lay my vocal chords out and have a new set of ERNIE BALL Fucking vocal chords put in my throat............................Jammer Indy

He just didn't have the passion for it anymore actually. He didn't wanna do it anymore.... He was burnt out!

Not only was the touring getting to Steve but his VOICE was his musical instrument, he HAD to take care of it. Journey would tour for at least 10 months out of the year, then come home and write, compose, sing and produce new albums and/or songs the other 2 months of the year. No breaks for close to 10 years! At that point if Steve couldn't sing, there would be no concert that night. He HAD to take care of his voice!

Steve's chords are nowhere near now versus where there were on this tour. No way no how. He's 24 years ago, it's impossible. I like his new voice, it's still pretty good. He is the greatest entertainer I have EVER seen, a master at it. I so pray he comes through ST. LOUIS in his Solo tour, assuming he does tour. I will probably get emotional a few times at the show if he does. I love No Erasin!
