I love the idea of the music video in a music video...

Steve's Acapella at the beginning of Oh Sherrie was homage to the Four Tops Hit Bernadette when the si h drops and Levon shouts Bernadette. The woman in the video was hos real life girl friend Sherrie Swaffird. Steve always considered this her song despite their relationship ending after 6 years, so Sherrie still gets the Royalties to Oh Sherrie.

Sherrie Swafford. Steve Perry's long time girlfriend IS the Sherrie in the video. There relationship lasted about 6 years and was a true love affair. Interestingly neither Steve or Sherrie ever married.

You should try "Strung Out" from the same album. The video for "Strung Out" actually sets up this video in that his agent or manager (or the person playing that role in the two videos) is actually trying to introduce Steve to this director. "Strung Out" is a real rocker with an even better guitar solo in it. And of course, because it is Steve Perry, incredible vocals.

That solo was originally going to be a saxophone. When the guitarist, Waddy Wachtel, played on the song in the studio, he told the producer……hell no, I know exactly what belongs there. Then he put down that short guitar solo, and when Perry came into the studio and heard it, he said “What’s THAT?”. Waddy answered ,Thats your solo”. and Perry LOVED it. So, it stayed in. So…picture the song with a sax on that solo: Was Waddy right? I think so.

The girl in the video was his then girlfriend Sherrie Swafford. They dated 5 1/2 years and I think broke up not too long after this song. She was angry during Separate Ways at the girl in the video and raised hell on the set and called that girl some really bad names. (That was from an interview from a couple band member). She supposedly said then said he better write a song about her.

You were spot on about jealousy!! Journey's guitarist Neal Schon, had put out about 2 or 3 solo albums at that time. So Steve said that it was time that he did something as well! Because he had been thinking about do a solo album. However, when Steve's first solo album came out, it did so well! So here it goes!!! While Steve was upset about Neal's solo, Steve does the same thing, and THEN Neal gets upset about Steve solo' album and just how well it did. So yeah, there was alot of bad blood between the guys. However, in 1983 on the Journey Frontiers tour, the band did preform one of Neal's song 'No More Lies'. And on the Raised On Radio tour, the band did 2 of Steve's songs 'Oh Sherrie and Strung Out!' Just alittle history lesson for ya! 🙂

@@HarriBestReactions ...... You're welcome! I should say that Neal's solo's were done in the early 80's and Steve's first solo was in 1984. Here's Neal's 'No More Lies' video. You should react to it! It's a GREAT song! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLGoiLmKnrKpXZc.html

He went solo for this album. He did go back to Journey for another album, and then he left fully. By 1998, he did his last album with them before a hip injury. In 1994-1995, he did another solo album Strange Medicine and did a solo tour.

40 years! 🎂Written by Steve Perry and Randy Goodrum. Nearly 10 years before this, RG wrote You Needed Me for Anne Murray, her most famous song she sang! Also in 1984, John Waite released Missing You. He was the singer who could have sung Open Arms but rejected it! Instead, Steve Perry accepted it, wrote the lyrics and sang it! Ann Wilson wanted to sing Almost Paradise with Steve Perry but could not because he was writing this song and other songs for his solo album with Randy Goodrum. A KZfaq video short explains this. Here is the story on how SP met. RG thought that he was going to meet the lead guitarist of Aerosmith. But daughter of RG got her poster of Journey and pointed who Steve Perry is! L 🤣 L. Steve Perry is NOT Joe Perry, lead guitarist of Aerosmith! L🤣L Steve Perry did not want to write songs on that same day. But RG insisted. RG writes mostly country music, a style different than rock or soul, 2 styles Steve Perry writes . On that day, they wrote Foolish Heart, Oh Sherrie and She's Mine. Details are in the Randy Goodrum YT video of Foolish Heart. Same year, Randy Goodrum wrote Who's Holding Donna Now? for DeBarge. Randy Goodrum sings like Paul Simon.

Written for his girlfriend Sherry and she is the girl in the video
@michelecarson236012 күн бұрын
Neal Schon didn't like it at all! He said it was too Journey sounding. Written by Randy Goodrum initally for a woman he knew. He and Steve made minor changes to make it fit. Some people don't like this knowledge, but there's a KZfaq by Randy about it.
