@@roba1899 I remember when G3 launched in about 1993(?) thinking, "If I ever get the chance I've got to see these guys." I think it was Satch, Vai and EJ. FF to 2017 I buy my son and I tickets to see G3 at Northfield Park Cleveland. We were so pumped. Waited a few months and realized just a few weeks before going that my son couldn't go because he was only 20. It wasn't Vai and EJ though, it was Phil Collen and John Petrucci. Anyway, this video blew me away. You know he was just sitting there with that song in his head and thought, "You know what? I'm just going to bang this out and post it." No talk. No preamble. I just love it how there's only 12 different notes in all, and everyone who's involved with western music has to work with the exact same 12 notes, but some of those notes seem to be exclusively Vai notes. This is a sign of an impeccable musical identity. I became a fan as a teen in early nineties and although my musical taste blew up in all directions, whenever I come across anything Vai, I get this feeling of being in the presence of a supreme musical entity. I humbly succumb to you greatness, thank you, Steve.

To be fair, his brilliant use of the whammy bar and his insane control of string bends opens him up to quite a few notes in between our boring western 12 :) I love this video and the tapping at 4:30 is one of my favorites I’ve ever heard.

Totally agree - Vai has basically trademarked and patented Lydian at this stage! Love his sound.

This is some of the most ferocious guitar playing I’ve ever heard in my life; like the instrumental rock embodiment of the most unbridled fury ever.

I've seen SV twice. There is something truly mystical about him that you can't explain and it comes through when he plays. No other player has it.

Me and my bestie from high school love Vai.My friend played many of his songs including "For the love of God".In the 90's we went to Bulgaria and attended Vai's concert.I believe some band Eric Sardinas performed on the opening if im not mistaking.Vai also performed" For the Love of God".We were so happy to see him live.I have been listening to him ever since 1988 .Just few years later my friend who was a young healthy sportist passed away from cancer.I know chances Vai to read this are zero to none but i wish u know that u meant a world to my friend.Anytime time i listen to "For the Love of God"tears roll down my cheeks. My buddy was such a good person he wouldnt even step on an ant.Never talked bad and was always very kind to everyone.I miss u so much Philip.

To dislike this kind of music is fine. Everyone has their own taste. To visit the page when you know exactly what you are going to find - with the intent to dislike the video purely out of hate...... well....sadly they have major issues in their life.

big boss did you express that in any comments to Steve via himself? How come you are here replying to me then? So let me get this right....you found video content having no clue what you would find.... you then down like the video because it’s “shit”. But then... instead of just leaving you decide to find my commment and spend time telling me how shit the video was ? Lmao 😂 What a loser. What normal people do? They check something out... decide that’s not for me... move on to something that is to their taste. Get a life
