I’ve been able to avoid that whole thing just by shielding before. I wonder why other players don’t do the same.

@@dyanaprajna4556 I did body a steve at lower ranks as Sonic. Was a rather stressful match though for me. And prob not nearly as stressful for him, even losing. Cause the way Steve has that stun lock on hit, and how light Sonic is, I needed to basically play extremely careful on my timings and try to mix up my use of air moves due to that stupid magma cube blocking the approach for a lot of easy hit moves like homing attack.

There was no reason why Steve had to do down as well except for the DISRESPECT

He is Steve, simply, STEVE... but nevertheless, that is what makes him great, HE IS SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL. He's a guy who doesn't need to be "cool" in appearance to show how Gigachad and tough his fists and blocks are (and... something else. >:) )... he proved to be GOD in this game. That is the result of cutting down, digging, even sometimes mining with your bare hands, fighting against mountros, even if you don't win anything... even CARRYING HUNDREDS OF STONE BLOCKS OR EVEN GOLD, being poisoned, shot by arrows WITHOUT DIE INSTANTLY, be cursed, go hungry, be chased by ghosts, you can be INFINITELY SLEEPLESS IF YOU WANT, SWIM LIKE THE SEA GOD, SURVIVE LAVA IF YOU ARE PREPARED and many other things that a normal being would not even dream of facing. Steve trained for 11 years by that point (and still does), to enter Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2020... and he was more than ready. HE'S JUST, STEVE.

@@EmperorPenguin1217 I think the main reason why the technique hasn't been seen much is, aside from being discovered about a month ago, Steve was pretty much immediately banned in most notable tournaments once PMLG came out. Either tournaments would try to ban and moderate the technique itself, which is an issue to try doing (like how to identify it, rewatching about every match to make certain, the punishment, and what if the accusation is false), or Steve's outright banned to not have to bother with the tactic in the first place.

I dont think any of these make much sense, minecart should only grab when the opponent isnt shielding, TNT would use even more materials, and the crafting table wouldnt be movable

@@EmperorPenguin1217 I have more ideas on how to fix Steve but: -The minecart would have a hitgrab hitbox, meaning it can be shielded like Isabelle's Fishing Rod. -I'd also change it so sand is a separate block and is also used in TNT, and the block itself would be bigger producing a larger explosion. High risk in getting the materials means high reward in a larger explosion. -You could still move the crafting table, you'd just press the special button while shielding in a different spot. All that changes is that Steve doesn't start off with it.

I think a simple fix would just be not letting him place blocks mid-air, only letting him pillar/bridge off of the stage or other blocks. I don't even know why they added that in the first place it's not even possible in Minecraft.

@@juneru2 Exactly. That’s why I suggested making it its own move instead of stuffing it into neutral special. That way you’d have better control of where the blocks were placed but still would be limited by it being connect to the ground.

@@juneru2 To be fair the blocks decaying, tnt always falling even when not ignited, block based moves like anvil and minecart being usable in the air doesn’t happen in Minecraft either. Making Steve only be able to place blocks on the ground would probably break him since not all platforms are at exact block level and blocks might not work because some stages have them SLIGHTLY off the ground, considering how much of a hassle they were to program already
