A truly gourmet freeze dried 24 hour ration with exceptionally high quality and delicious food, snacks, candy, coffee, tea, and even a toothbrush.
Small portions for many items, which means they could pack in extra variety, and that is just what Denmark did with this 24 hour food pack used in cold climate operations.
Mild pate, raspberry jam that tasted like a dessert sauce, delicate curried chicken with minimally processed and large portions of meat, fish sandwiches, making a trail mix, and finishing with a memorably rich and decadent double chocolate frosted cake.

My wife liked this channel as her dad was a veteran and would save MREs for her that hed pick up through his military buddies or the commissary and there were things in them that she really did enjoy and had no quams about expressing her love for "coffee type 2" etc... These MREs are available on Ebay and such. There are many collectors and enthusiasts out there, and many military surplus dealers offering them, so it's a lively trade. A not-too-rare-but-still-interesting ration pack can be had for about 10 to 15 €/$/£ already. So if you just want to try if the hobby is for you, the bar is pretty low. My partner and I tried a few from different countries and it was fun, but ultimately not something that we'd spend more money on. It's not like we're making videos out of it.

We should all be eternally grateful for Steve and his content. Over the years youtube has become a wasteland of debauchery, anger and clickbait titles. Every thumbnail is an O face and every title is sensationalism at its finest. Videos cut shorter and shorter until only the shorts remain, minute long clips of stupidity and insanity flickering past. Then, the new MREinfo review drops and you remember why you use this platform. Amazing content that has not needed to change in years because it is just perfect as it is. Steve will take as much time as is necessary to fully show off his latest find in amazing clear detail and with nothing but good energy going out into the world. He truly is the Bob Ross of our generation and I hope we keep getting these little surprise video drops for years to come. Thank you for showing these to the world.

Great coverage Steve! A bit of info on Danish rations as I was taught: Typically the whole rye bread and paté are the lunch items, as a fairly traditional danish open faced sandwich, this also goes for the fish (mackerel on the whole rye bread as a spread). Whole rye bread is a typical lunch food, with savory spreads on top as the base of the famous danish "Smørrebrød". the whole wheat bread would be a breakfast item (with the jams/hazelnut chocolate spread) and the biscuits are a snack/used to uh.. "plug you up" so to speak due to the high fiber content. When we receive a ration, you'd pack it in to one of the plastic bags (to keep it dry) before packing it in your bag, and keep the other for trash, taking any smaller items you want as snacks and keeping them in a pocket on your person, such as the chocolate, raisins, jerky and cereal/protein bars. Naturally, each soldier adapts that to their preferences and needs, but that would be a typical way to go with it.

I went through Army Basic Traing (US Army) in 2008 and got stuck with it once. Worst MRE ever. Looked like a cat ate wet cat food and threw it back up and they packaged it 🤢. I was literally just saying’ “I wonder if Steve posted a new video yet?”, and boom there it is! Sometimes all you have to do is speak it into existence lol! What a fascinating ration from the Danish! Having a wholesome real food experience with a military ration is so awesome! And it really bolsters the energy levels I feel like more, than having a bunch of food that’s filled to the gills with preservatives.

All my years working on a USAR team for earthquake response, we ate MREs all the time. We always enjoyed finding different combinations of items from each to enhance the meals. We always had a box at our Base of Operations with extra pieces of MREs people didn't eat or want. It was fun to see what we could use up .

@@buttahXD It's the difference between spending $1M on meals for 10,000 soldiers versus spending $1M for 100,000 soldiers. Combined with not getting deployed means they are not using the MREs, which means they can make even fewer of them. Something like this wouldn't scale up well.

another great video! and love to see Denmark presented so nicely thank you :D i do love the ryebread hazlenut and jam but want to give you a little cultural reference if intrested. ryebread is a normal lunch bread and the mackerel in tomato sauce is in every home and something almost every dane has tried so brings a great deal of nostalgia. the liver pate's are the same. once again you are doing great!

My biggest complaint about US MREs is that every single component tastes like someone stubbed their toe when adding vitamins and minerals. Why they don't just include a separate vitamin capsule with the meal just astounds me, because everything tastes like added vitamins. Way more than the body can use, as we excrete the excess.

The "MHTD" means "Mindst Holdbar Til Dato", literally "Best Before Date". It's a Danish food and health safety thing. It means that the food is best before the indicated date, but can eaten after that date. Provided it's been stored correctly. Also. Steve, you ate the patés wrong. They are supposed to go on the rye bread. Which is why this ration has TWO packets of bread; one for the fish, one for the patés. We Danes also don't put jam on the patés. And they are usually a lunch, or dinner item.
