Well stevens says that rear pic rail doesn't interfere with open sight use. They actually say to use the rail as a sighting plane with the front bead visible above the rail. Even the xp models that come with a red dot say that in the owners manual. Use it as the manufacturer intended and you won't have an issue. I also feel like your expectations are more in line with $1k shotguns and not $190 ones....

Ditch the aluminum base shells. Aluminum does not spring back like brass. Also if the chamber is milled a little rough it will grab the shell. A good chamber polishing with a drill on a short rod or dowel split on the end to hold a polishing cloth with polishing compound applied will slick up the chamber & facilitate better spent shell ejection.
@caseyb1346 Жыл бұрын
The action is stiff because the ejector spring is too strong, not because 'its rubbing'. That's a old problem that many ejector guns have. Also you can wiggle the ejector with a screwdriver to get it to unbind. May need to open and close the gun several times, wiggling as needed until the ejector breaks in.
@The_cast_frontier11 ай бұрын
No ideal for a brand new out of the box gun. If the shell is in the breach and the ejector missed it, the gun is now jammed and will not close again. You have to did the shell out.

@blueridgehunters Жыл бұрын
The actual rail itself does have a slight slot down the middle but it still sits up so high that I can barely see the top of the front bead. I’m currently working on a fix for it that should work jut fine.

Stockweld is very personal, every difference in; face proportion, posture, shooting technique, visual acuity, gear worn, and lighting matter - especially with irons, even beads, basic as they are visually they require that much more posture sensitivity/awareness to point dead level.

You can add tru glo fiber optics to the front and rear nub that’s what it’s set up for if not using the pic rail
@blueridgehunters Жыл бұрын
As of right now, I can find any tru glo fiber optic sights for this gun? What river optics are you referring too?
@By_The_Blood Жыл бұрын
You will always shoot way low trying to line the bead sight down the barrel.. the front bead is raised so that it lines up with the top of the rail and I actually have to float the bead a hair over the rail on my 20g to get the same point of aim that my red dot is at. I have two calibers of this gun and have had zero issues. Were the shells you were shooting brass base or aluminum? I would take the hand guard off and make sure it's locking back on correctly to fix the "gritty" feeling when opening.
@smartacus8810 ай бұрын
I got that exact model you have there. Luckily i didn't have any issues with the action or ejection, but i was disappointed to see that base welded to the barrel when i popped the pic rail off. I just put the pic rail back on and got a low profile fiber optic rear sight, either Hi-Viz or Tru-Glo - Can't remember, and mounted it to the pic rail. Front bead lines up fine with it, although it shoots a little lower to the point of of aim than i care for. I like the entire pattern to be just above the bead at 20 yards. This shotgun splits the pattern half above half below, at 20 yards with the stock choke as well as a modified and cylinder choke, which most guys would consider perfect i reckon. All in all im satisfied for the money it cost me. Im going to pick up a muzzleloader breech insert for mine.
@blueridgehunters10 ай бұрын
I like your idea of the low profile rear sight. I put a red dot on mine and it sets up too high for my line of sight. My cheek is barely even touching the stock so I’ll look into the rear sight.

You're supposed to leave the rail on it if you want to use open sites. That's why the front Bead is raised.

@The_cast_frontier11 ай бұрын
I’m not impressed with mine yet either. Bought it and first shell wouldn’t eject. Unless the shotgun is completely vertical the ejector leaves the shell in the breach. Defeats the purpose of an ejector. The shells aren’t easy to remove by hand either.

150$ it’s a great value. Mines 410 without the rail ejects great just needed a little sanding and it cracks open and up pretty well just need to work it out more. Sucks that happened to yours though

I have sanded on the forehand where it hinges and that has helped a significant amount. I know that’s a minor detail, but I don’t think we should have to do that even if it is a $165 shotgun.

Mine is in 20 gauge and I like it but me and my dad don't like the way the safety works. You have to cock I back to flip it off and break it open to load it
@blueridgehunters Жыл бұрын
Yes the safety is super frustrating. I could see it causing some hunters to miss an opportunity because of the odd setup.
@nobodyspecial185211 ай бұрын
The only thing not outright better about this pardner/handi-rifle clone, is the goofy safety that's not necessary or even useful. I can sort of understand using it to hand it off to a kid in a blind, so they are less ND capable without fiddling with the hammer, but a 5-8yr old doesn't need a goofy manual of arms either. Presumably dad leans over and swipes off the safety when junior raises up but IDK. The splined pins make removal/modification a real headache, it could be ignored or locked with a dab of epoxy.
