@@nomdeplume2213 people who work on fish rescues like these need those extra hands and they never have the proper funds to save and grow there dreams out to the world. I would volunteer daily to the average joe who just wants to help. Men and women like him are really valuable and are ALLAYS overlooked, i mean common stop these false TV shows and start making these rescue chanles to give out to the world so people locally can support there residents. I gets me how these large corporate companies are man handling these joe's of the world. T_T (I also hate these life drama shows like the kardashiens, if the stop that and made a chanle dedicated to pet wield life rescues then set up a Monthly, those funds plus donations can help "JOE" here and everyone elts whos doing this out of their hearts!)

Fish therapy? Sounds good. I can definitely relate to the concept. It is a very "zen" activity. Definitely one of the best ways to learn about a Microcosm of Nature too. Maybe I should start keeping an aquarium again; even if it's only a pet Oscar in 20 gallons. Does anyone have a good guess regarding how large a tank would be solidly adequate to keep a female Peacock Bass vs keeping a male? That might be an option too. They are both super successful South Florida immigrants in the Everglades, which is 5 miles right down The Trail.

Definitely a very serious set-up. Really used to annoy me when I saw something like a red tail being sold to someone with an ornamental tank. Had to talk a friend of mine out of putting arowanas in a four foot tank once - he had no idea what he was getting into and the shop was pushing the sale like it was a TV. I'd never even think of keeping big fish like that - it's a full time job. Rich is a true fishkeeper.

Rich should honestly start charging for tours! Hes hand built an aquarium thats better than most "pro aquariums"..., absolutely amazing!!!!!! If i lived near id volunteer daily, i can't imagine the cost of food, chemicals, ELECTRICITY it takes to keep it going. Please make a gofundme!! Id donate, the moment he said that if a fish is named and donated the family can come back and spend time i felt tears haha what an amazing man!!! I am in awe, what an amazing couple. He and his wife seem like amazing people id love to know! My daughters would LOOOVE to see this in real life which is why i mentioned doing tours. Elementary school kids would be in heaven! My 5 yr old is mesmerized by the video alone haha Maybe charging for tours could help with the financial requirements.

I agree! He could make quite a bit for the rescue this way. It’s also great to take the kids to see. I would’ve begged my parents back in the day to take me to see something like this at least once a week. Even if the charge was like $1 per person, it could add up quickly!

Daniel Weinstein greedy??? Really? Jesus, you are so ignorant it hurts. This is not a hobby, he’s doing this because he CARES. It costs thousands and thousands to keep this place running! Having people pay for tours wouldn’t even cover the cost. And HE is not greedy either. If he did make more money than he spends somehow, he would just make expansions to take in even more fish. Do you know how much labor that all takes? It’s a full time job and he’s paying out of pocket to do it! Let’s hope you are just ignorant, and not just a selfish prick like you sound.

@@TeHy11 I'd have to disagree. It should always be on the buyer to do research on what they're buying. This isn't exclusive to fish, but applies to everything you buy. You can't get upset at a car salesman, computer salesman, or any other salesman for not doing your research on what you're buying.
@ainokea8916
@ainokea8916 3 жыл бұрын
The fault lies with both parties on the sellers side its greed its all about money and of course if you sell something that has the potential to get huge some dumb yahoo is going to buy it, they dont care about the animal at all. On the buyers side its not doing your research and being really naive in thinking oh ya i got this and if i dont well ill just get rid of it. Like Rich said the stores shouldnt sell em or at least you should prove that you are fully capable of taking care of this animal that will get huge.

@@TheFishingNomad The people selling are obviously at fault as well as the buyers. I worked in a pet store when I was younger and it would've been really irresponsible for me to not make sure people understood what they were getting into. And I very often discouraged people from buying species that I could tell they'd never properly care for. In fact I often discouraged people from buying anything at all. If I hear you talking about putting a fish in a little "fish bowl" on your desk then I won't sell you any fish at all unless you first buy a proper tank from me and get it set ip before you take the fish home

Awesome. Most pet owners or people thinks about the for legged pets and forget that fish also are living creatures that some fish owners not out cruelty let their beloved fish suffer and eventually dies but they just out grew their tanks and cannot afford nor have the space to upgrade their tanks nor a place that will take their beloved fish. Keep up the good work and we need more people like you and a place and organization like yours.

I agree with this Man pet shops shouldn't sell fish that get so big without proof they would have a good home or something.. 🔱 Respect for "Tryin" Sir 🔱

I started being a fish parent about a year about and honestly I loved bettas for a long time so I did my research on them and it's terrible what they go through. Watching this I'm inspired to run my own fish sanctuary. Of course it'll be some years from now since I'm still learning how to take care of fish, but there's need to be more people that care about fish care. There are dog rescues, cat rescues, bird rescues, reptile rescues, rodent rescues within 25 miles in the suburbs where I live, but no fish rescues. To be honest I struggled with what I wanted to do with my life and fish keeping has helped easy my mind. Starting a fish rescue feels right to me and I'm grateful the youtube algorithm took me to this video. Thank you so much for having such a big heart and showing the world your rescue ^-^

This guy is such a sweetheart. You know he’s got a big heart especially at how he talks about his wife at 9:40. So glad there’s some out out there who genuinely cares for pet fishes!

Rich, thank you for all you do! Our loved pet, Mowgli, is a red belly Pacu. I bought him in April 2004, and I estimate he was just over a year old. He was kept in a 29 gal standard, then I moved him up to a 75 gal, and eventually to his 210 standard home. He is 22" long and is quite content still. Until I saw this video, I began to think that Mowgli was the only fish to want to be petted! He knows all of in the family and follows us when we are in the family room. He loves to be face to face to me for up to 5 or ten minutes at a time, without moving away, as I talk to him (he probably feels the vibration of my voice, I guess), and he looks straight at me; so cool. For many years now, he lives on frozen Italian cut green beans, and an occasional earth worm from the garden, as a treat. When my arms are submersed in the tank for cleaning, he will not stay away until I pet him over and over. I do have a very healthy respect for his teeth and jaws though, at all times. I know the damage he could do to fingers, as I have fed him dry chunk dog food, or Brazilian nuts which he crunches with ease. I know his average lifespan is 25 years and we hope he thrives through then. if our life should change, I will be sure to count on you!

Until I saw this I thought I was the best dad in the world! This is an amazing effort for both you and your son. All the fish come up and say hello! Well done. The bad thing is this has been the same in the industry for years, I started out back in 2005....and the usual suspects still show up in the bottom of dealers tanks. (I’m in the uk) Lovely fish.

Iam a fish lover since childhood, catching fish from ponds mostly catfish,barbs, pencil fish etc. Mostly they use to die because of the water condition. Now that i have learnt the tricks of the trade,i have few tanks, which has sharks, dollars,tin foil etc. I was touched by watching the video the word RESCUE is a very rare thing in fish hobby, normally what i have found here is that they dump the big grown fishes into lakes or wells 🙂 it's great work that you are doing to fishes, feeding them and caring takes lot of time and energy and money of course,i would say a great work towards humanity 👍. I am ERIC JOHN from India, Bombay., hope some day,i would also love to open a fish rescue home, when i have enough place and finances to take care of them. Hats off to you brother. Take care. God bless.🙏
