After setting up and testing the Single Carb Intake Manifold made by Adam Smith, his was in range for both the front and back, but still had the front cylinder slightly leaner than the rear. I got to thinking that maybe it had something to do with the timing of the two cylinders and how they are not evenly opposed when they fire. Turns out that this is exactly why one cylinder goes leaner than the others (and why the equal length runner one I tried wouldn't work at all). Very interesting indeed and finally answers the question why the single carb manifold design is very important as it has to compensate for that.
