All should note, and I guarantee you Stevie would want it noted in a big way, you are watching a clear eyed and CLEAN performer. As an recovered/always recovering addict, Stevie touched my heart by never hiding. He helped as many as he could. He would still be steadfastly standing up and Saying, "my name is Stevie, I am addict". He was an inspiration. I miss you Stevie, so much.

Hang in there, and don't give up on yourself. Just keep fighting the good fight, and it will get easier in time. I just celebrated my 41st year of sobriety in March of 24, but there was a time when I never would have believed it would happen, but it did, and it can for you. Seek the help of your higher power and trust him to deliver you, even when you don't trust yourself, and you'll persevere. God bless, and Godspeed.

Missing Stevie on this 31st anniversary of his passing on August 27, 1990. I clearly remember the first time I heard his music - in jr high school my buddy played SRV's first album for me in his room, he had been telling me I had to hear this guy who was as good as Hendrix. I also remember being in my beat-up Chevy Celebrity when I heard the news on the car radio Stevie passed (and the first news reports had Clapton and Jeff Beck also possibly in the helicopter.) Thank goodness for YT and the folks who post so many amazing videos to remind everyone of SRV's incredible talent and soul, and I can spend another day with Stevie's music. 🔥

I remember Stevie would start around 11:30 and jam until 4 in the morning. He always made sure we had a fifth of his favorite whiskey crown royal set aside for him. Oh yeah? Well, finish the brief conversation I had with him in '89 between songs at a show in Balboa Park and find out once and for all what sort of supernatural energy he is able to conjure up at will in the form of a wind that emanates from his core and was hitting me dead in the face. But, only when he played. Well, he just smiled, winked and declared ignorance before ripping into 'Tightrope.' Don't forget, silly.. demand an answer.

@BokFrak
@BokFrak Күн бұрын
@@Shann300 It did happen. When it continued after a few songs like this and there was no sign of origin other than from where Stevie stood to sing which was directly in front of me and my neighbor. Before I spoke to him I actually tried to mime to him my concern whenever he would look my way and he would tilt his head like how a dog focuses intently on what you're trying to say. When the song ended he walked up and crouched in front of me and said, 'The way your friend is laughing at your antics I just had to find out what your over the top concern may be. I told him and he paused still squatting with his elbow on his knee and a couple of fingers on his chin. While he continued like that and I asked him if the sound was all the way down and he nodded and pushed the guitar body a little bit towards me and I glided my finger twice across the strings watching them vibrate. That was surreal, for sure. He stands up smiling and winks and says, 'I haven't the foggiest idea.' I started to say that 'there's not a fan in sight and there's no natural winds at all' and he stands up, spins around and around, shrugs his shoulders and began to walk towards Chris's drum kit to play the intro for 'Tightrope'. I never asked again, because we were too busy getting mesmerized by his masterful work. Being sober brought him to another level altogether. It allowed him to really excel and produce one final album which I think is by far his best. After the song he walked up to me and said 'open up' and he dropped the pic he had just used in my hand. Around 10 yrs ago someone stole it. But, I still have the little medium sized In Step tour shirt. A peculiar thing was that the Starlight Bowl at Balboa Park in San Diego was directly under the flight path of all incoming planes heading to the airport. Robert Cray opened up for Stevie and he's fantastic, an awesome bluesman, who I actually met about a year and a half later after Stevie was already dead. I mentioned the show to him while he was signing my free 101.5 KGB FM ticket I won to his show that night downtown. I still have it. When I this to him his rhythm guitarist, an Asian guy, who was standing there rudely said, 'Stevie's dead, dude.' Robert finished signing (All the best, Robert Cray) and we both looked at him and I said how rude that was and Robert backed me up with, 'yeah man, that was rude. What's wrong with you?' Robert handed me the ticket back and we shook hands, I thanked him and I walked off his tour bus where my friend was waiting because he was too chicken to follow me. Ya know, if you go on Wikipedia and type in 'Stevie Ray Vaughan In Step tour,' you'll see a list of all the shows he did. The show I attended was on May 20, 1989 at the Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park and it was like the 4th or 5th show of the new tour and it had Was Not Was as the opening band. So, I fixed it and changed it to Robert Cray. So, if you go down the list to the very last show SRV did you'll notice that the show I went to and the last show Stevie did in Wisconsin the night of his death (I didn't find out Stevie had died till two weeks after his death.. I entered boot camp 8/25/90 just two days prior to his death) are the only two shows out of the entire tour where Robert Cray opened up for Stevie. That was weird. Robert Cray is an excellent Bluesman, but he's a mellow player. So, when the planes flew over head they were drowning out his entire sound. So much so, that he began to look up in disgust every time they flew by. But when Stevie came onto the stage.. There are planes doing what? I mean, what a show, what a memory. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings. Thanks for inquiring.

LIFE WITHOUT YOU (17:04) Who could have thought that at age 31 Stevie Ray would only have four years and one day of life left on earth. Considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, if not the best, Stevie Ray is credited with introducing generations of rock fans to the blues. Stevie Ray passed away victorious against his demons of cocaine and alcohol one month short of four years of sobriety, which he began September 1986, and died four years to the day after his father Jimmy Lee died, August 27th 1986.

It's so insane how he played lead throughout the verses, while singing and not looking at the neck and he rarely left any holes in his music. It's hard enough to play lead without looking much less playing Stevie's kind of lead while singing without looking😅😅😅☝️👏👏👏

My room-mate Sheri knew Stevie. The gold lame' jacket he is wearing in this video was worn to humor her that night - 12 hours after this performance was 1 of the worst days of Stevie's life, as his Dad Big Jim passed away on Aug 27th, 1986 - 4 years later to the day, Stevie joined his Dad. I think Stevie's very best performance was on Austin City Limits just before he left us... I was about 10 years old and I had just picked up a guitar. My dad played in a band for years and years so naturally I was attracted to it. One night dad called me into his room and said, "Hey son! Come check out this guitar player!" I remember seeing his legendary worn and faded Strat and I said, "What do the letters SRV stand for???" Dad said, "Stevie Ray Vaughn..." I was glued to the screen and I was hooked from then on. Any friend from high school would tell you that if they were riding with me, they were listening to SRV. I'll never forget that night with my dad.. He and Stevie are both gone but their memories will live in me until I'm gone. 🤙🙏

How I missed him as a kid I'll never know. In my dark days as a teenage alcoholic I loved (and still love "the master of the Stratocaster" I WORSHIPED Hendrix, Joplin, and Morrison (all drank and used themselves to death at age 27. I was born in 1960 About five years too late for Woodstock and Monterey Pop but thanks to KZfaq I can still get it as a senior classic rock / blues guy. Yesterday I saw SRV being interviewed by Hall who said "people say you are better than Hendrix. SRV (extremely humble man) said "there is only one Hendrix, I just try to do the best I can". He too beat his demons! Accidents happen even to the very talented. He has four years of sobriety when the helicopter went down. He talked about sobriety from the stage reaching millions! He said "I thought the party would never stop. It stopped"! Rich and UNBELIEVABLE talent did not keep him clean. I['m thankful that he died sober. His work lives on! I can't help but wonder what would have happened if JJ, Hendrix, and Morrison has all sobered up and shared with us the gift of recovery. It would have shown us all what is available. I'm 41 years sober now listening to SRV at 3:00 AM. I'm grateful I can enjoy him now!

Watching this, you can really see how Stevie improved. So Albert was right. Also, Albert was 60 when they made that jam session video. It boggles the mind to think how good Stevie would have been had he been able to reach 60. I mourn for all the music we didn't get to hear from Stevie. RIP

I was 11 years old flipping through TV channels and I came across some unbelievable guitar player, just killing Voodoo Child. I continued to watch SRV at Austin city limits and I had a new favorite guitarist. That will never change. The outfit, the beat up strat with SRV on the pick guard, and the emotion combined with his unmatched skill. My opinion right then was he's the best, and that will never change. A little story here -- When I was stationed overseas in the mid-70's, I learned very quickly that concert goers in Europe were a different breed than we Colonials.... You see, they sit quietly during whatever song is playing by the Band (Jethro Tull) and only after the song is over, do they applaud. The reason being, they want to savor every note. You can see the respect of this audience as soon as he gets into Lil Sister..... and it instantly reminds me of how they behave across the pond.... SRV - The GOAT... RIP

Hi SRV fans from all around the world, young and old, women and men, Usually It doesn't happen to me to leave a comment. But afer watching this video of magical performance and guitar playing of Stevie I feel like I can't stop myself not telling what I felt while watching the show. I'm am a fan too. I'm 46 and it's about 10 years since I've got to know SRV. It was "In Session" #SRV & Alert King, recorded on Dec. 1984 . There is something unique and magical about each great player and for SRV I see it as extraordinary passion and energy and emotion in his playing beside techniques and creativity. I hadn't watch this video until a couple of days ago and *guys and gals* it got me to some sort of wowonnderderfulness. It's wonderful, he really got a deep understanding of music so real, personal, emotional, and perfect. I regret I couldn't see him live ever. Why didn't I get the chance to know him sooner and to see him live ? Geography, just because I live in I.R. Iran. A country in fight almost with some part of the world at different times.

I was there when his statue was placed on the banks of Town Lake in Austin. I was just there last Friday and walked towards Lamar, at the walk bridge was a dude playing a guitar. He was, by coincidence playing "Life By The Drop". What a wonderful day it was!
