When Janna met Stevie, she acknowledged she saw the cocaine and whiskey backstage, but he continued to use substances for another 7 months until he collapsed and made the decision to stop. She enjoyed their excursions together and the lifestyle he provided, but as time passed she shifted her focus off of him and onto her career. She had been modeling in Dallas, but left to share an apartment in NY with other models, until Stevie leased one for her. “Home base” was still Dallas for Stevie, where he got his main sobriety support from daily meetings at the Aquarius Chapter of AA. Dallas Sound Lab recording studio which he frequently used, was located nearby. It’s been well-documented he was uncomfortable being alone, and in a 1990 interview in the Dallas Morning News, he stated “I’m not well”. He admitted it was a daily struggle to stay clean and an author noted he carried a high risk for relapse. More than ever he needed a companion who would be available when he needed one, but Janna made herself less available and was content leaving him to his own devices. She stated he had to learn to not use substances to numb any pain he was feeling, and that it was “Ok to sit in a funk”. However, “sitting in a funk” made him vulnerable to relapse. She acknowledged they had fights and their relationship had it’s “ups and downs”. His prior marriage legally ended in June 1988 and by her own admission, Stevie asked her “many times” to marry him. She relied heavily on his financial assistance and knew it could be terminated, if she continued to delay his proposals. When she finally agreed, she then blamed her refusal to set a wedding date on their busy schedules. But by all accounts, Stevie would have eagerly accommodated. As a courtesy, Stevie asked her father for her hand in marriage, but the real issue had been persuading Janna. He had the apartment lease prepaid through the end of 1990. Pursuant to Texas law, Martha and Jimmie inherited Stevie’s estate in equal parts. Although his family extended the lease for another year after he passed, Janna filed unsuccessful lawsuits to collect more assets from his estate. Since Stevie’s death, she has tried to take credit for his sobriety and seek acclaim for her association with him. Without a doubt, Stevie was clearly committed to her. Problem is, she was more devoted to her career than she was to him.

Each man was the Blues Guitarist of his time. If you're unfamilar with, I would suggest y'all audition "Red House" off of Are You Experienced before you rush to judge Jimmy's sound. I love Scuttle Buttin', about as much as I love Red House.
@NoGoodMike15 жыл бұрын
My apologies for the tangent. I am aware of the set up he's using sir. I was merely suggesting that the "style" is a "throwback" to the individual who influenced him the most [Jimmy Hendrix], as well as providing one possibility for the origin of this style. By the way -- I doubt that Jimmy had the string nut replaced. I have little doubt Stevie's guitar employs a "rightie" string nut. The string nut, not the tuner holes, dictates the orientation of the neck (rightie or leftie).

Janna acknowledged Stevie asked her many times to marry him, but she kept stalling. When she finally agreed, she hurt him by refusing to set a date. Janna blamed it on busy schedules, but Stevie would have eagerly accommodated her. She shifted her focus off of him and onto her modeling career by leaving their home to move into the apartment he leased for her in NY. He remained in Dallas to attend daily meetings at the Aquarius Chapter of AA. This allowed him to be close to his mother, as well as conveniently located near Dallas Sound Lab studios. She claimed the apartment was leased to benefit both of them, but considering his disdain for being alone, it was undoubtedly a source of friction and she acknowledged they had fights. In an interview Stevie stated he was “not well” and admitted it was a daily challenge to remain sober. He carried a high risk for relapse, but Janna was comfortable leaving him to his own devices. After his death, Martha and Jimmie extended the lease on the apartment for another year, but she filed an unsuccessful lawsuit to collect more from his estate. Bottom line: he was far more devoted to her, than she was to him.

She was a gold digger. She tried to sue Jimmie and Martha twice. She wouldn’t have looked twice at Stevie if he had still been a dishwasher.
@JeanVaughan-Staley3 ай бұрын
@@gabe6182 You got that right. If he had been Steve Vaughan still playing in the clubs without a contract, she wouldn't have given him the time of day. But she managed to get Steve to pay Lee Atwater (RNC chair) a $10K bribe to get her a green card to work in the US, as she was not eligible due to her age. That relationship was based on everything she could get him to do, to advance her career.

@@JeanVaughan-Staley Glad someone else sees the true picture. Saw a photo of her standing next to Stevie’s number one when it was on display and some of the comments from people actually saying that the guitar should have been rightfully hers. Makes me sick!
@JeanVaughan-Staley3 ай бұрын
@@gabe6182 The photo was taken at the Bullock Museum exhibit. In her podcast, Janna stated she thought it was bizarre that #1 was on display at the exhibit. I can't understand why she thought his fans would not want to see it. She also complained there was no collaboration with her. But since she sued Stevie’s family to collect from his estate, Jimmie undoubtedly figured she wasn’t interested in collaborating with him. Why did she go to the exhibit to see things she has seen before? Was she seeking praise or recognition? When she visited there, she became angered to discover she was not mentioned anywhere, except for the coptic crosses both she and Stevie had. In retaliation, she turned her focus toward criticizing Jimmie’s arrangement of the exhibit and finding fault with it. She said it was just “stuff” and nothing denoted Stevie’s personality or virtuosity. That's what an exhibit is - "stuff". She mentioned there were some handwritten lyrics on display, which showed his thoughts. I fail to see what she would have done any differently. She also stated “So you think you can just rewrite history”. If she thinks Jimmie intentionally omitted her name from the exhibit, she needs to understand that the exhibit was about Stevie and his musical legacy. It wasn’t intended to be about her, this time.

@@gabe6182 If she had possession of #1, she would have sold it just like she has sold his wallet, poncho, numerous pieces of jewelry including his AA medallion and squash blossom necklace, boots, hats and many notes hand-written by Stevie. If she no longer wanted his personal belongings, she should have offered them to his cousins, nieces and other relatives. They would have been more than overjoyed to have something that belonged to him.

Lenny was Stevie's TRUE love. Although their relationship was tumultuous the passion was there. Addiction is a theif that steals and destroys. He tried even after they split to work it out. Agents advised other. Knowing addiction recovering addicts dont like to be alone and are scared to face life on life's terms. Relationships are not recommended for 2 years. The recovering addict doesnt even know himself yet. Although substance is halted there is much work within to be done. It is actually selfish to get in a relationship with a recovering addict the first year. They need to find themselves. Most times addicts will replace the addiction and become addicted to a romantic relationship " thinking" it is true agape love. They become co-dependent on the person and it's a type of security which needs to be found in self. Seriously 17?? No life experience and especially not with long term addiction. Stevie met her when he was still using heavily. He really wanted Lenny to come to rehab. Addicts feel lonely and isolated. If you know addiction, you know this.
