Got stiff hips? This 8 minute hip stretching routine will help you loosen stiff hips safely, improve hip mobility - and with almost no equipment necessary.
In this video, Matt takes you through simple hip stretches that improve hip mobility, relieve tight hips, and beat hip pain. These hip stretches will loosen tight hamstrings, hip flexors, and inner thigh muscles. When your hips are painful and stiff, rest is not the answer. Resting your hip muscles just leads to more atrophy. This relaxed hip mobility follow along will help you restore flexibility to your hips gradually, and it's all in a 8 minute dose that you can do whenever you have time!
Don't give up on improving your hip mobility. Work on it daily to improve your hip flexibility and overall health!

I love your videos, Matt! Thanks for all you do and especially for alerting us that structural issues are not necessarily the cause of pain. Especially when doctors recommend invasive interventions or treatments than often are completely unrelated to pain symptoms. When chronic pain is involved traditional medical responses are notoriously unhelpful and dependence on drugs can be just one very negative outcome. The way the brain interprets the signals from the body, muscles and other contributors as well as bio/psycho/social factors can all contribute to how an individual perceives the sensations of the body which can be uncomfortable to intensely painful, without the presence of any tissue damage. I really appreciate that you include this information and mention researchers who are contributing to research on pain, like Dr Lorimer Moseley and David Butler in Australia, and others. Keep up the valuable work! It's awesome!

Matt, I have been following your channel content for some time and I have found it to be very informative and extremely useful, so a big THANK YOU. Can I ask whether you would advise the majority of your content as being suitable for people who have undergone a total-hip-replacement?

Matt, diagnosed with an SI joint issue. In order to keep pelvic stability I am doing two-leg exercizes which limits what I can do in terms of stretching. Wondering if I can do these.

I sit at a desk all day and when I get up for various reasons throughout the day, I have the most horrendous stabbing pain the the front of my hip/pelvic area, leaning more outwards than inward. I am at the point that I have to brace myself before getting up. I really need help with this. Obviously desk jobs are hell on the body, but what can I do to strengthen my hips so this pain stops!?

Are all of these safe for someone who is 6 years post total hip replacement?
@Uprighthealth

If you go SLOW and CAREFUL, your body has great capacity to heal. The key is to LISTEN to your body and not try to do everything hard and fast so your body has a chance to learn and understand what you're asking for. *PATIENCE* and compassion is key. 💪 No exercise is safe if. you do it too hard, too fast, and too aggressively for your limits.

How old are you Matt? Do you believe your hips will stay healthy into old age? Like do you think having had some issues with them when young could up the risk? I don’t believe so but asking.
@Uprighthealth
@Uprighthealth 3 жыл бұрын
I'm almost 40. They will def. stay healthy into old age because I am making movement and exercise (i.e. maintenance) a regular part of my life. The problems I had have made it clear that "old age" happens when I don't take care of the muscles properly. I'm organizing my life in a way that means I maintain good hip mobility for as long as possible.
