Tina Bush They treat mental patients like garbage same with drug addiction its disgusting that there are so many drs and nurses like that, i had something similar happen to me like the lady in this video . All drs and nurses that are like that should lose thier lisences to practice medicine period.

Stamp out STIGMA by not using shameful & stigmatizing terms such as "Mentally Ill" & "Mental Illness(es)". Just like "Mentally Retarded" & "Mental Retardation" r also considered as shameful & stigmatizing.

Mclain's a pretty good hospital, I know of a whole hippie musical crew that got started there in the 60's.

And Ray Charles did a stint too. So did I. Interesting talented folks in the psyche ward. Getting stable.

One time I went to the hospital with a bug bit and they the staff kidnapped me and would not let me go and all I had was a bug bite on the back of my neck. Yes I told them when I first entered the emergency room I have a bite on the back of my neck and they started by putting me in the physiological part of the emergency room I had a doctor come in a phys doctor and I asked her why was I being treated for a phys visit I have a bite on my neck it turned black that is why I came in she left and I was there for 5 hours until I asked if I could just leave know if the bite was life threatening because it was black and they said no you can not leave. I said why and they said you are in the phys unit under 24 hour watch I was so upset over that because I didn't go in there for that I has a bite on the back of my neck. I asked to call the police because I was be held against my will for false imprisonment and I demanded it and with in a few minutes they treated the bite and let me go. I got a letter the next day of apology and now that hospital will not take me in as a patient they will have an ambulance take me to another hospital. And when I asked for my medical records on that day they held me they would not give them to me that is against the law will anyone do anything about it, no. NAMI is an organization to protect people with mental illness but they don't it is true. At Christmas and other things they ask for donations to help the mentally ill but the mentally ill never see a dime or even get any help with that money or those donations. Here where I live most of the homeless is the mentally ill and the homeless shelter staff steal from the homeless how they take the food and other stuff home for their family's and the homeless eat the worst food and blankets are scarce. This is true and fact I know for I have a mental illness. Oh and for those who say hide your mental illness if you can hide it then you don't have it. Mental illness is categorized with the murders and the people who commit h anus crimes and the stigma and discrimination is just as damning as it ever was and if you have a mental illness you no it is.

Susan; I hear ya. From the where I stand, the terms "Mentally Ill" & "Mental Illness(es)" r SHAMEFUL & STIGMATIZING in & of themselves 4 the very xact reasons u've cited. When society thinks of the "mentally ill", it's associ8d w/crime. There4, I consider the "M.I." terms as "criminal justice jargon" (not "medical jargon"). Hence, the STIGMA. It's amazing how the mental health system finds "Mentally Retarded" & "Mental Retardation" offensive, shameful, & stigmatizing but not "Mentally Ill" & "Mental Illness(es)". Hypocrisy perpetu8s STIGMA.
