STIHL BGA 300 BACKPACK BATTERY BLOWER
A review of the New battery backpack blower from Stihl.
In this review I have tried t have a bit of fun, as well as highlighting the features of the machine.
The machine featured in the video is a pre production unit, which I have been using around the gardens here for over a year now. It has proved to be a very useful bit of kit, with enough power and battery capacity to handle a wide range of tasks.
Thank you very much for watching.

I really liked the balanced review, as a non-pro happy with my BGA100 (which at the time was the top-end model), but good to see how battery tech continues to evolve and improve.

Great video, very interesting machine, new technology will never suit everyone or be perfect, but it's a important stepping stone, but saying that, I can definitely see many applications for it now. 👍👍

Great run-through / introduction. I'm a gardener / groundsman and one of my jobs is at a site of 50 retirement flats in the North. This is another example of where the new BGA 300 could really be advantageous for your viewers, mainly to minimise noise disturbance, which can seriously "get" to people who are elderly, disabled and more house-bound. Depends on the physical area, of course, whether it's paving or grass your dealing with etc. Not for me though; Too bulky. I also have to clean out the doorways and porches of the flats, so my handy battery BGA 86 is perfect for getting into awkward corners!

I’m in San Mateo California. Just transitioned from all gas to all electric. I love the BGA300 and my clients are happy. This wouldn’t have happened if not for the California CORE program. All the batteries/mower/Kombi/BGA300 would have cost me close to 6k but it only cost me 2.9k.

That is awesome that you are able to get money towards buying battery kit. As you say - so much nicer for your clients. But the key are the benefits to you. No fumes! No fuel mixes - a game changer. Thank you for watching

@@jesusarenas3951 nope! awesome program that helps with the cost of transitioning to battery equipment. You basically trade a gas machine for the battery equivalent of your choice (ex: trade a gas blower for this BGA 300 kit), and they reduce the price significantly. We just completed the process for our second company order.

Looks like a nice bit of kit. But for me doing small residential lawns it's a little overkill, a bit too heavy, and out of my price range. That battery alone is over 2.5k NZD here. I will stick with my BGA 200 blower and Stihl Battery Belt with AP Holster.

Great video as always Andy! Where's the shed gone you used to do vidz in? I run the pellenc airion backpack blower and have to say the battery gauge on the handle is bloody handy . Shame about the stihl not having that since ego are following suit with the gauge too. When using battery backpack blowers its about battery management I always say I've taught my guys how to get the most out the battery and its worked well long run times! Also run the br800 for the much larger jobs, superb bit of kit but it does scream at full tilt! I'll need to weigh the pellenc see how it compares lol Cheers again for your content 😁

Cordless has always been a lot about noise levels, but less noise just means the engine is not as higher watts as say electric mains motors. . Petrol Engines have the combustion noise , but 4 stroke is not to loud , but anything with a high spinning fan is going to be pretty loud what ever the power source.

You say compromise but 5kg heavier than a br 800 and it only has a 1hour run time 😬 that means I would need 5 ar3000 batteries a day for a good part of the year to do what a couple of full tanks of petrol currently does in my br 800

I guess it’s all about having the best tool for the right situation. There is no way I can use the BR 800 in certain areas of the gardens - but can happily use the BGA 300 without disturbing people. The battery backpack blowers definitely have their place in the market - but as I said in the video. They can’t compete with the big petrol blowers for big leaf clearing jobs. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment.

@@TheFullyChargedGardener yea I get in your situation it has its niche. I have 2 office carparks for a business that have weekly leaf blowing all year round. They have raised the noise issue before and I have basically said A. A quieter battery unit doesn't exist yet, and B. the one that is coming (this one)looks like it will cost me around $15k in batteries to do the same job the $1500 petrol unit I have now does, which isn't at all cost effective. They haven't raised the issue of the noise of the br800 for a while now 🤣

So bga 300 is £600 + £1620 ar3000l battery. =£2220. It has a blowing force of 26N compared to 41N of the petrol bga800. It will only run 61 minutes at best, which will be less in cold weather. Continued fast charging will see the batteries drop performance in a few years. We have had batteries fail altogether in 2 years, but those that are 4 years old, are now useless with short run times. This bga300 weighs far to much, can only work for an hour at best, where a backpack blower is generally required for longer running periods during winter leaf clear up. Add in Stihls unreliability, over priced parts making machines non repairable and doing their utmost to avoid warranty claims, blaming customers and lieing, why would anyone buy this? Only 12months warranty also. Not very confident are they? I have never been asked not to use a petrol machine. Wouldn't listen to this, I'd say its amazing if Stihl was paying me too, even though we know its complete rubbish, unreliable and far more expensive to run when you keep having to replace well looked after machines and batteries. Give stihl a ring, ask them for the top level of maintenance you should be 1 on your machine. Adhere to it strictly...I guarantee it will still stop working. But it will be your fault, im sure.
