The FSA 135R seemed quite big and bulky and heavy with the installed onboard battery. Do you have a video on the FSA 135 plugged into a backpack battery or hip AP300 battery and thoughts on the weight and bulky-ness of that unit without the onboard battery? And also the comparison of the KM 135R vs the KM 135?

Great video. I have just received my Stihl FSA 135R. I have the AutoCut C26-2 2.4 wire on there. Which metal blades can I put on there? Do I need a nut, washer and bolts kits too. I'm not sure what the barrier handle is for either!
@TheFullyChargedGardener
@TheFullyChargedGardener 3 жыл бұрын
The barrier handle is to help prevent kickback when you are using a metal blade. The best place to look for the blades you can use is the Stihl catalogue. And you will need a nut and bolt - which comes with some blades.
@pauli1968
@pauli1968 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I couldn’t find any videos of someone using the barrier handle. The Stihl UK website does not show metal blade compliance with the FSA 135R! So I assume they all fit with the nut and bolt kit. Cheers Paul. www.nelsongardenhub.com

Great to see your video. Gave it a 👍. As always you do great demos of the Stihl kit. This is now on my ‘to buy’ list as soon as it’s in stock at my local dealer. April/May. Interested as to why the battery is now going in at the top instead of at the back. Would water not just seep straight in? Not that I’m planning on using it in a rain storm, but it does sometimes rain a little here 😂.

Cool. When I first started strimming this feature we call ‘the tump’, about 10 years ago - I tried using a strimmer with cow horn handles, but found it much more awkward on the slopes, so I switched to a loop handle machine - The cow horn handles are definitely more comfortable when strimming large areas, but on these slopes, just not for me. Stihl do indeed make a version of this machine with Cow horn handles. We have also tried a flymow on these slopes - but that is quite awkward. Thank you for watching 👍

I’ve always had Stihl 2-stroke strimmers. This time, I got talked into a 4-stroke Honda. While the Honda is a lot slower, it does a better job - if I do some rough ground with thick, long grass, the 4-stroke does a much better job of shredding the grass where a 2-stroke just cuts it off at the base and drops it leaving a load of dead grass behind. I put the difference down to 4-strokes’ heads spinning slower but having more torque to shred the stuff. Does anyone have an opinion on where Stihl cordless stands on this spectrum?
@666maidenmaniac
@666maidenmaniac 3 жыл бұрын
I've got an FSA90r, it will go through thick Dock and younger hogweed. Does bog down a bit going though the thick stuff, experience from 2 stroke makes you think it's going to cut out, but it keeps on chugging through. Shreds lawn grass under 3inch long, like a 4 stroke if you keep it on full power. Longer than that it's going to lie it down. And you don't need full power when it's accompanying a lawn mower, the FSA90r is perfect for that. I now forget to start the makita 4 stroke, when I go to cut I'm so used to squeeze and go. Looks the FSA135 may have the power to equal a 4 stroke.

When I press the button on the trimmer it shifts the power level quickly and on the Kombi I need to hold the button down for a few seconds before it will switch the power level. Is it normal that they react differently and if so why did Stihl design them that way. Thank you

It’s a really nice battery powered unit man! I have the Milwaukee string trimmer and use it all the time for light duty stuff. For field work I use the KM 131. I’d rather just grab a gallon of gas and know that I’m good for the day. 8 hours plus. How long does the backpack battery last on wide open throttle? I’m a landscaper and use my battery stuff all the time but when it comes to getting serious like stuff that is not light duty I use gas.

If I can find time - I will make a video of the runtime of the backpack on full throttle. The way these Stihl EC motors is very clever, it really is surprising how much you can get done with one battery - and most importantly, how much better you feel at the end of the day. You also tend to be more productive, as you are not having to stop to re-fuel, walking to get fuel can etc. Thank you very much for watching 👍

I use a dewalt 60v strimmer for quick small things around the house, and also use a km131 for longer duty/heavy duty stuff too! Dewalt is convenient as it’s quick, plug in battery and start wacking. But, My dewalt on a 9AH battery gets me 15-20mins max with continuous use, which barely cuts my front lawn, that’s why I never considered a battery strimmer for real work/landscaping duties as a 9ah battery barely gets a front yard done. If using professionally, it would suck cuss each house would probably require 4-5 batteries. Compared to the km131r, I can do a whole house with less than a tank of gas.

Been watching your videos as I have a KM 131 R with various attachments. Thinking of selling it and buying a KMA 135 R. Just wondering what the run time is for AP300 and the backpack model you have in this video when strimming as you are in this video? I have several strimming jobs that can last 4 hours using my current set up. How many batteries would I need for 7-8 hours of constant strimming?
@TheFullyChargedGardener
@TheFullyChargedGardener 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Runtime is always a difficult one to answer, as there are so many variables that go into it. I use either the AP300s batteries or the AR3000L Backpack battery. The AP300s can run out in about 15 min if you are running it balls out in really tough grass, but I have also managed to run it for almost an hour of light strimming around lawn edges - just regular weekly stuff. the AR backpack is a BEAST! I strim that whole tump in the video and it uses two bars on average. again depending on how long the grass is. you will easily get a days work out of the backpack. is the grass you are going to be using it on mostly weekly/fortnightly stuff?

For me, im thinking why the hell have Stihl put an ap battery on it. waste of time. The small batteries have to short run times and only worth while in using with backpack. Ifi do need to use a small oneI just put it in rucksack. Now theres a upwards facing battery slot exposed in heavy rain. I found Pellenc to be awful kit, it is not the best, itis outdated, overpriced and full of faults. The demo I kit I had was full of broken parts and themower stopped working. I went for Stihl as they were three times less the price and would just replace when they broke. Now the price has shot up on all kit. There many issues and faults with Stihl cordless, some issues I have discussed with them but typical Germans, were are right you are wrong. My kit is stored in doors with a dehumidifier in room but still have two hedge cutters go bang. Bother being the motor. One cutter still in warranty and the other not even three years use. One of The biggest issue is the metal coil cable support at plug end, its useless is breaks only a few weeks after first use with the constant movement. I have used cordless for 4years this year, i would only buy Stihl despite its faults. I just wish proper people would test it not German office jockeys and they would listen to feedback.

I see the price of some cordless kit is the same as petrol but you dont get an engine for your money. You get a motor thatwill only last a yesr of two and be to expensive to replace. Like all manufacturers Stihl are no exception to ripping people of with the cost of parts.
