Welcome back to another video. Today we are reviewing the Stihl HLA 66 battery powered pole hedger. We've been using this for a few months now and thought it would be a good time to share our thoughts and let you know what we think about it.

💚💚💚 Great review, I've also found that the blade speed makes a big difference in cut quality, I also was wishing that they would have fixed that issue, thanks for sharing! 💚💚💚

Good review. I have the old version and agree with all of your criticisms. I also think that it's great value for money in terms of the variety of work you can do with one machine at a pretty low price.

Thanks for watching mate. It is good value, you are right. I should have mentioned that. These pole hedges are so versatile, I can do pretty much all my hedges with this one unit. 👍🏻

I appreciate your honest opinion, I am a homeowner, however I have a large amount of small trees and shrubs that require trimming quite often, currently I am using a older model, echo gas powered pole hedge trimmer, I have rebuilt it multiple times so I have really got my use out of it ,however the heaviness is really getting to me. So I am currently looking at cordless electric,

Beaut video! 👍 Some great shots & those views! Awesome. Great to hear you mention Being kind - amazes me just how angry people can get about the machines people choose to use. As you say - The world would be a dull place if we all used the same kit. Nice one mate 👍

Great video I just bought a hHLA66 for domestic use son in law has a HLA 56 when comparing a HLA 66 to a HLA 135 you should mention the 135 is nearly twice the price (well in UK it Is)so cant really compare like for like And the Husqvarna with a metal gearbox base is 1/3 dearer again but a very informative video so thank you atb

Enjoyed the video, a good and thorough review. We personally still use the old version but will swap to this once we need a new one. The HLA 135 is a fantastic bit of kit but the downsides to it, i.e. big differences in how long the batteries last, noticeable difference in weight and almost double the cost (plus it doesn't even have a tip protector!!) just mean it's not worth it for us. The HLA 65/66 definitely has its shortcomings as you mention, but we've been happy enough with it to carry on using going forward. All the very best 👌

Hey mate, thanks for watching and commenting really appreciate it. Yeah they are great tools and so much nicer to use over the petrol alternatives. Stoked it's working for you. Have you tried the Husqvarna version? Cheers.

@@lovelawns It was between Husky and Stihl when we changed over to battery 2 years ago. Really liked them both and it was 50/50 which we went for. In the end went for Stihl purely as more local dealers supply them but I actually slightly prefer the look of the Husqvarna gear. Glad it's all working great for you.
@lovelawns

Both great systems and as long as they work and earn money you can’t go wrong with either to be honest. Personally I prefer Husky now but started with Stihl. The dealer network and support is an important factor too. Cheers mate 👍🏻

Good info. At the moment husky is putting out some very nice gear that is certainly giving Stihl a run for its money.

I've been very happy with my early HLA65, but I'm not doing the scale of work you're doing these days. I'm sure it would be the Husky gear otherwise...but it's hard to back-track when you've invested in...or been tempted by a battery "family"! You're right about that irritating third switch. Excellent video presentation and practical explanation...as ever.

Great review. I have 2 pole hedge trimer from husqvarna and i must to say that husky is much more useful for daily pro use wich we needed. I have it amlost 3 years and no any problem. Why is beter husky than stihl? They have beter triger, beter handle grip, back handle for very long triming sometimes and also protection👌, magnesium housing and faster blades... I'm also big fan of stihl products, btw gas trimer R and T version are monster💪💪💪but this pole trimet is way better from husky👌💪👍

@@lovelawns I have an 18v Makita strimmer and was looking to get their Long reach as I have the batts but been told only 36v upwards gives you petrol performance so to go up in volts i would need a whole new system.

I don't get why everyone reviews this like it's Stihl's top of the line hedge trimmer, there is an HLA135 with the motor at the back with 4000 cuts/min
@lovelawns
@lovelawns 2 жыл бұрын
It’s part of their AP range aimed at the professional market. The HLA135 is a different machine entirely and has only just been released to the market. It’s not even available here in Australia yet so currently this HLA66 is the top of the range pole hedger and goes up against all the other similar pole hedgers on the market from Husqvarna, Ego, Pellenc and Makita and as stated in the review, falls short in some areas when compared to them. I’m looking forward to trying the HLA135 when available. Cheers 👍🏻

@lewisgriffiths694 definitely the 200 in the hedgers, better balanced and plenty of runtime. Cheers

Is there a similar hedger with more cuts per minute?
@lovelawns
@lovelawns 2 ай бұрын
Yeah plenty, Stihl do the HLA 135, Husqvarna have the 520iHE3 which is the most similar with the motor down by the gear box, Ego have the HTX5300 and Makita do a 18v with fast blade speed.. Cheers

By the time of faffed around with a sheet I would have blown it off and on to the next one. Very rarely do I use a ground sheet. But when I do it’s amazing.

I was looking to purchase the HLA 65 because this new one with the third safety is horrible and it's things like that. When companies do things they're going to push people from purchasing

Both are great machines. To be honest, you get used to the safety switch, does it get annoying sometimes, yes. Is it a big deal, not really. Better to get the latest 66 machine in my opinion. 👍🏻

I have NEVER seen anyone use a tool so incorrectly as you do, sorry to say, and no offence!... 1) you bend your back all the time (bad habit?) 2) you use a ladder to reach the top of your hedge, which really isn't the idea with a pole hedger.
