These telescopic battery hedge trimmers are SUCH a treat to use. I've been on the battery train for 4 years now, and don't have any plans of getting off! The future is NOW! Feel free to ask any questions! Cheers

The product arrived undamaged and in a great looking box all parts of the kit were present kzfaq.infoUgkx010hhy8hzepHnne4VtzOtUictDZeYMTF and I can't wait to use it. I'm most impressed by the fact that it's a five piece kit, of great monetary value in that you can get this all for such a price. With this my former grip strength will come back and then some. I'm already starting notice a bit of a difference after using it for a bit now, and the stress ball and doughnut shaped grip designed to be carried in the pocket have helped in reducing my stress levels as of late. Would definitely recommend!

Terrific man thanks for your review, fair comparison. I’ve now made a solid decision. Even after asking the dealer to charge batteries for me to collect in the morning I was second guessing myself because Huski are not a prominent in Australia. Excellent review, I've been struggling to find the part number for the tip protector. For some reason Husqvarna don't list this part for the 520iHT4, but I have fitted Part No 581 48 35 01 without any issues. Hope this helps.

I just got to Husqvarna. It is so heavy and awkward to use I do not think I would buy it again I would stick with gas with the weight being down by the motor. The weight in this thing is all at the head so it takes a lot of muscle to keep it up high.

One thing I've noticed with BLi300 batteries is the clips break at the base and jam in the tool with lots of use. Our dealer has fixed free of charge so far out of parts from returned batteries (they don't seem to carry it as a replacement new part) but I think its a design flaw. Can be really tricky to get out of the tool. I've had mine for 2+ years. I wonder if the latch spring on the stihl is getting worn and just need replacing to keep the battery from falling out. At least its one point of failure vs two on the Husky. Thanks for a detailed comparison. Cheers :)

hey! true it is a bit heavy, but you'll get used to it! Use the BLI200 battery. Also, get the smaller 520ihe3 as well. It's a lot lighter and will help you conserve energy when using the big one! I switch between both all the time on every job!

After watching this I really do have a question. I’m planning to buy one; the price of the Stihl HLA 86 (refreshed ergonomics compared to the HLA 85; same 3.000U/min cutting speed) and the Husqvarna 520IHT4 is the same here in EU. Now, I need one for the property around the house (Leyland cypress, firethorn-Pyaracantha, etc); is that higher cutting speed of the Husqvarna noticeable as a better cut?
@phil.vision
@phil.vision 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your question, It is a good one. Having use both the HLA 85 (86) and the 520IHT4, I would say that you as a homeowner will not notice the difference too much between the 2. The HLA 86 is a little lighter which might be appealing to you as well. The 520IHT4 really shines in a commercial environment where production is the bottom line. Yes, a faster blade speed will leave a nicer cut, (especially when on a schedule), but if you aren't in a rush, the HLA86 will suit you just fine. I would also recommend to pick one where you think you will get good service in the future, and who's battery system you can build off of for various other garden tools. Overall, you won't be disappointed with the Stihl!
@irionpleione8312
@irionpleione8312 3 жыл бұрын
@@phil.vision Thank you for your explanation. In other words, keep the blades sharp is the most important thing of all here. As for the “rush, schedule” mode, I’m neither that handy nor experienced to try something the like. I mean, if you perform a certain task only a handful of times per year than the resulting lack of skills does bode well if rushing the task at hand. What I’m UTMOST interested about is the quality of the cut; that’s why I still use hand tools when cutting certain things. Both brands are usually serviced by the same repair shop. The battery ecosystem is the real issue though; as a private I can’t run two different battery systems. By the way, we’ve heard here in EU that the polar vortex has fallen apart and that gelid north-pole air could drift down; considering you’re in Canada, shouldn’t you be freezing by now?

Brushless pole hedge trimmers that telescope are rare. I think there are only four: The Stihl, the Husqvarna, the Greenworks Commercial 48PH18 (48-volt), and the Dewalt 40V (discontinued). At $250 for the kit, the Greenworks Commercial looks like a great choice for homeowners. 3200 strokes per minute, just 8.8 pounds plus battery. I wish I had bought it instead of the Milwaukee M18 Quil-Lok. The Milwaukee feels too heavy (for me) with the 2-pound 40.5-inch extension piece. The Dewalt can probably hold its own against the two big boys. As of August 2021, you could still find it new, for as low as $360 shipped. But it's very heavy.

I liked using the Huski's better than the Stihls, but the Huski's just didn't prove reliable in the end so have stayed with the Stihls. BTW, using the GTM Elephant's Trunk 2 harness with these longer hedge trimmers really takes the strain off your neck and shoulders.
@phil.vision
@phil.vision 3 жыл бұрын
I own the GTM ET2. I find that it doesn't do much to help the bigger trimmers since it's only good for sub 10 LBS machines. It is awesome for the hla65 or 520ihe3!

@@phil.vision I use the lighter 200 battery in the HLA85 and have a secondary attachment point more towards the point of balance - helps me a lot although it definitely is starting to get a bit heavy for the harness. both are pointless to buy, buy makita instead these is no point to buy. You ask why? They only used gas. If you want gas machine than yes pick these, if electric forget, them. Neither stihl neither husqvarna had zero experience in battery and electric engine making as simple as that. They simply now weak compared with any brand. Plastic is yes good quality, but engine and most important battery low end. And biggest minus they are heavy battery is huge for 40volt in them compared to any other brand. Any other brand will have same battery on all tools. Drills chainsaw you name it, these forget. This is so called brands out of touch, trying to compete with other brands with only theyr name. Today is you buy 1 batery for all i mean all tools.
@phil.vision
@phil.vision Жыл бұрын
Interesting points! They however are a lot more forestry and landscaping orientated than Makita. The battery rune times are NEVER an issue on a hedge trimmer, as it's arguable the most efficient of their tools. Makita does NOT make a big telescopic trimmer, or else I'd try it!
@arshadkamel4640
@arshadkamel4640 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you, Makita doesn't make a telescopic hedge trimmer. They have the multi attachments head. I tried it a couple of weeks ago a long with the M18 Milwaukee. The Makita trimmer head is very well built which made it too heavy when used with the extension. The Milwaukee is lighter. Also, the Makita has a feature to stop it when cutting thick branches that I don't think helpful since the blades already going through cutting the branch. It only makes the trimmer lose power. I'm a home owner trying to get something light, fast, and well built. I watched a lot of videos comparing the Husqvarna 520iht4 and the Stihl hla 85/86. One video by Mike day GM at the 20 min mark, he said it's a little bouncy when fully extended but that was after using it for a while. Do you have that issue since I think you've been using it for a while now? I went to a local store and saw both trimmers. They're both well built but the extended shaft in the Husqvarna is circular and not as rigid as the Stihl's one. I liked the Stihl more but the only thing that makes me think which one to get is the 4,000 strokes speed for the Husqvarna VS 3,000 for the Stihl. I know you mentioned in the comments that a home owner won't notice a big difference. The Stihl is also lighter, has better rubber handle with smaller diameter and longer battery life since it's slower. I just wish it had 3,500 to 4,000 strokes per minute. I wouldn't think much. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks.
