This video review is about the Husqvarna 520iHE3 commercial battery powered pole hedger. We’ve been using this amazing bit of kit in our business for about a year now and it’s literally changed the way we work, for the better. It’s now a joy to hedge with a pole hedger, no fumes, no vibrations, no noise, awesome blade speed, perfectly balanced, great ergonomics and excellent runtime from the BLi200 batteries, which we recommend in this tool. @@lovelawns why no one's being honest about the play in the adjustment axle ? in any position mine has like 1,5-2 cm play at the blade edge, this is huge, in straight position, it looks like it's on the -1 decline position...... I can see the same problem on any video of it (520ihe3), this plays a lot... the steel adjustment ring not only plays itself, but it also slowly eating the painted zamac in it's slot. I'll have to disassemble it and find a way to fix this. Makes me want to get back to gas trimmer. At the beginning it was just like a 0,5cm play, I'm not abusing it, not even use it so much, but still the play grows larger with time. unacceptable.

I have the Husqvarna 535lk combi petrol beast with hedge, whipper, and pole saw attachments. The Battery 525ilk is the same motor assembly as the pole hedger above. But best of all, all the attachments work with it too. The battery 525ilk comes stock with a whipper head and the 535lk does also. That's a petrol Professional commercial engine combi, Battery combi, charger, battery, 2 x whipper heads, hedge attachment, Pole saw. All up around 3k. How much was the above pole hedger? You can also add an edger, brush scrubber cleaner for driveways and pavers and even a blower for around $300-400 per attachment. Having a combination of gear gives you options. If you run out of battery, you have petrol for back up. Or, if your engine is being serviced, your battery is your backup. Battery is quiet which means it is handy for early mornings, elderly residents and infants. Not to mention it is so much easier on the joints and it keeps the service costs down for the petrol. I'm not ready to give up petrol just yet, but rather than replace the petrol engine one day, i'll buy the battery backpack & go all day. My health is my wealth and with the battery gear, I can handle a bigger workload.

yep, i see what you mean about having to grip it on the metal part (instead of the black front handle) in order to have good balance when trimming. nice demo. cheers.

Hey mate, thanks for watching and commenting. I spoke to Husqvarna about this after I made the video and apparently its a safety thing. Regulations state that your hands have to be a certain distance away from the blades, hence the placement of the handle. Interesting 👍🏻 Cheers

Good Video very informative,alot of smaller gardeners/lawn care contractors shy away from these battery operated tools especially Husky because of the initial setup cost (chargers/batteries) which is wrong because in the long run these machines will pay for themselves, sincere regards one of your subs here in Melbourne Australia

Just bought the 520i hd60 hedger,325i power head with line trimmer and 536i pole saw and lawn mower,very expensive but once you start you can't stop.

This is a great review! Lots of good information with really good quality video and sound. Your delivery is excellent. Husqvarna should pay you for this. :) I got a quote from a dealer here and he was confused about the tip protector. In his email response, he states that he could not find that as an option on the Husqvarna site. Is this an OEM part?

Hi David thanks very much for your comment and for watching the video. Yes it’s a standard part it comes with the smaller handheld hedger but not with the poll hedger any Husky dealer should be able to find it no problem. Thanks mate 🤙🏻

Great review ,I am currently using gas powered 😮‍💨as a homeowner with a large landscape full of small trees and shrubs I will definitely search these tools out ,I’m getting so tired of the heavy petrol powered pole hedge trimmer and the exhaust. My current unit is an antique so this will be interesting Venture.

My shill HLA 65 is in the shop after just 6 months of use. It's almost 2lbs ligher than the 520 which is why I went for it. I may have to jump ship if they can't fix it this week. The Husqvarna looks like it's built much better.

@@lovelawns Husqvarna everything now apart from my mowers which are still Petrol. Would like the t540ixp and 540ixp chainsaws just loving battery life no more pulling cords stinking of fumes and no more heavy vibration going down your arms, customers are loving it too thinking I haven’t been as they don’t hear me👌Husqvarna all the way for me. You vids are really good keep it up do more with the tools in use on your jobs, love watching how other’s work can get lots of tips and different methods.👍

Hey mate, yeah we are the same, still using the trusty petrol Honda mowers but all our other tools are battery powered Husky for the most part. It’s so much nicer to work with. Will try and film some more on the job stuff. Cheers 🙏

I have a love/hate relationship with the battery equipment from Husky. I purchased 2- 536lihe3, 2-520ihe3 and 1-520iht4. All have been in for warranty motor replacement several times. I was given two new units under warranty, both of those were also in for motor replacement. That's a total of 7 new units all of them have failed, plus they have had replacement motors fail multiple times as well. I thought the 520iht4 with the brushless motor would solve the problem, but it's in the shop as I write this. I'm approaching 40hrs of travel time dropping off and picking them up as well as being without the use of the equipment. I was forced to buy a couple of gas units to have some dependable equipment. It's so frustrating as our crew loves using all the battery equipment we have, they perform very well when they work. They are used approximately 6hrs a day 5 days a week. 30yrs in business, they are the most unreliable equipment we've ever used. 🤬 Hedgecraft Trimming

We have had a few issues with ours too but I persevere as they are much better than the alternatives. Although I do think Husqvarna need to beef them up a little so they can handle commercial all day use better. Everything was fixed under warranty and very quickly so the service we receive from Husky is top notch but would still prefer to not have the issues to start with. Cheers 👍🏻

Gearbox, motor clutch and switch all at seperate times on different machines and all fixed under warranty by Husky which they are good for but still inconvenient.

@@lovelawns I run a gardening business in Melbourne and looking at switching my current battery hedgers to either Stihl or Husky but not sure which way to go. Are the mechanical issued with the Husky's really that bad and frequent? Appreciate your advice.

Hey mate, no plenty of people running Husky gear commercially with no dramas. It’s worth considering though. The new Stihl stuff looks like it might be good whenever it finally arrives here in Aus. You’ll love the Husky gear mate, it’s top notch. Cheers 👍🏻

What are your thoughts on the new Stihl HLA 135 with 4000rpm I have the Husqvarna but find the gearbox housing cracks at times if you go through any heavy stuff.👍

Hey mate, I haven’t tried it yet. Still waiting for them to arrive in Australia. Always last over here..! On paper it looks good and a few friends overseas have positive things to say about them. As soon as I get one I’ll be comparing, reviewing and sharing videos about it. The Husky gear definitely prefers the lighter stuff mate.

Hey mate. Thanks for the review. Just about to do the gear swap over to battery. Run a business here in Brisbane, and KZfaq channel, MOW TIME. Question I have is about blowers. Do you run the 120ib or 525ib at all? if so, thoughts. I just do private homes that are regulars. Thanks mate

Hi mate, yeah the 525iB is a great blower. We have several of them. Not quite a powerful as the petrol handheld 525BX but plenty for the everyday stuff. Very comfortable to use, has the cruise control feature and turbo mode which is helpful for short bursts. The blowers (all brands) chew through the batteries though so you’ll need a few bli300 or a way of charging them for a full day. Are you going all Husqvarna or a mix of battery gear? Cheers. 👍🏻

@@lovelawns thanks mate. Ye, converting all to Husky gear. Seems to be the best for commercial use in the current market. That may change in the future, but I don’t want to sit around and wait. Swapping over to battery my brushcutters, blowers, hedge trimmers and chain saws. Staying with the Honda mowers at the moment. I currently work solo, so probably won’t smash through the batteries to much in a day. Going to setup a charging bay in the Ute though just incase, and for future growth. 😀👍🏻

Great choice and good plan mate. You won’t regret it. Battery tools are so much better to use. Once you get used to battery management they are amazing. No downsides to be honest. Mowers I’d recommend the Pellenc as a battery alternative to the Honda. That’s about the best you can get right now. Few new ones coming on the horizon that might change that tho. Let me know how you get on mate. Would love to hear your thoughts when you make the switch 👍🏻

Hey mate, great video. I too am looking at transitioning the hedgers over to battery. Particularly this model thanks to your review. I just had a query regarding the weight as this is my main motivator to switch. This unit comes in at 6kg with battery attached , my current Stihl KM 130 kombi tool comes in at 6.7kg. Not much of a difference, iwas hoping for them to be much lighter in comparison. Can you comment on the weight, and is is drastically noticeable compared with your petrol powered alternative? cheers

Further to this , what hand held hedger from Husky would you recommend? i was going to go Makita but much easier to stick to both tools being husky.

Hey Alex, I’d recommend both the Husky hedgers, the pole and the handheld. Always use the smaller Bli200 battery in the hedges and the weight is great, perfectly balanced. No noise, no fumes and no vibrations makes even more difference than the weight in use. Make sure you get a tip protector for the pole hedger too, it’s not currently included in the box. I still carry the petrol tools for the rough stuff but use battery for everything else. Let me know how you go 👍🏻

There was an older pro model that's impossible to get that had a much linger pole reach for very tall english laurel hedges like mine. Do you know of there's an optional pole extending attachment for this? Thanks!

@@lovelawns Pretty hard to buy here in the states. It does look like there's a place on the East coast that might ship it here to the West coast. Not sure why so difficult. Also seems hard to get a proper battery. This has been going on for some time here. It's so funny that you call me mate - not that I mind nor that you necessarily thought I was male but something about my youtube name (my name backwards) makes everyone think I'm a man.😆 Thanks again!

@@lovelawns Husqvarna has infamously horrible customer service if you're not a pro. Literally NO way to reach them by phone and possibly not by email either I'm not sure. Only dealers can help but again very few sell their pro models on the US West coast. Baffling...

You have to take off the gearbox housing and make sure you use the correct gearbox oil as it’s important and can void your warranty if you use the wrong one. Cheers
