STIHL RG-KM Rotary Cutting Head
We have lots of Erigeron growing in our terraces here in the gardens.
In the past we have tried other mechanical methods, to cut it back each year - but none have been safe. When I saw that STIHL had launched this kombi attachment, I jumped at the chance to try one on the terraces here.

Thanks for posting this great video. I'm impressed by the 135R battery platform and the RG-KM that you demonstrated. I run mine on a 131 gas head. It's near impossible to find replacement blades for the RG-KM in the States. I ran mine into the metal base of a path light that was hidden in the brush and broke one of the teeth off. I have not seen anyone do a video on how to properly clear a jam on the RG-KM. Once the RG-KM bites off more than it can chew, it will be "stuck" in a position that prevents the blades from reciprocating even if you visibly clear any debris and throttle the power. I hope anyone reading this turns the Kombi unit off before clearing a jam and keeps their fingers away from the blade teeth at all times. Anyone who owns this attachment already knows how sharp the teeth are. I've used the wrench that comes with the RG-KM to simply "tighten" the blade retention bolt to nudge the blades to a new position and then I'm up and running again, so I carry the wrench with me when I'm using this attachment. I've taken the head apart several times to check if anything was broken or misaligned only to find that there's nothing wrong. I was wondering if you or any of your subscribers has experienced a jam and what procedures they use to clear it?

I purchased this unit about a year ago and it's got less than an hour on it, but the blades (scissors) will intermittently get stuck and stop moving. At times, they wont work at all even after a good spray down of WD40 on both sides. They aren't chipped, there is nothing caught between any of the blades, it just stops. Using a more than powerful enough (approved) Kombi head unit to run it (91r). The bolt on the underside simply takes the blades off. Have you experienced this? Quite frustrating to stop multiple times during operation to manually try to move the blades and then resume. Thoughts? I bought a spare pair of blades so I'm into this thing for over $500. Thanks!

I had it as a test and didn't like the angle of the trimhead. I had to bend over too much too get the head flat to the ground. I wish Stihl made longer shafts too. I'm 1.86 m or 6.1 ft. Shorter people might not have that issue.

@@andylawrence5995 Stihl don’t want you to purchase the older Kombi units such as the Stihl KM 130R etc… they want you to purchase the battery units etc…. But they all have exactly the same fittings anyway, and this attachment fits all the Kombi units apart from one of the brand new units I think but not sure which one but I know the fittings are completely different. I hope this helps.
