Cool video. The XL folders from Cold Steel are awesome for carrying. I think the Espada is still my favorite 5.5" to edc, but I'll need to buy a Talwar to be certain. :)

I love the Espapa's, too; they are great CS Mega's. I've always loved the Spanish Style Navaja Folders; I have a few "Real" one's. :) I ought to do a Video with the one's I have. But, the CS Versions are much better quality, just like the CS Ti-Lite VI is to most "Real" Italian Folding Stilettos... :) They're just fancier and more classic than the CS Versions. :) Here's a Video of my Espada's, old and new: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZmorK1my8q6dac.html & kzfaq.info/get/bejne/graUftqBzb7FaYE.html I still have the old one's and I love my new one's. Peace, Stiletto :)

Hi Stiletto. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video for me. A very informative comparison video. The points you made are very useful to me. Of course I would love to own the Recon 1 but over here in the UK the cts xhp Recon 1 is £195 and aus 8a is £135, crazy prices. My Voyager tanto xl in bd1 cost me £83 still a lot compared to the US prices. So after watching this excellent comparison video. I am grateful to you because I feel I made the right decision on choosing between these blades. Thanks again, all the best Gary.

Right on! I'm glad I was able to help out. I've always heard of the wild prices overseas. Your XL Tanto can do anything the Recon 1 version can do. I have both. But, the Voyager is in my EDC drawer and the Recon's are in my Safe... Right on, Bro! Peace, Stiletto :)

That's a cool Tanto collection. I have a "regular" Recon 1 Spear Point and a Broken Skull. Ordered a Voyager XL Tanto that's due to be delivered in 3 days. I plan on keeping it in my car as an emergency and/or rescue knife. Also ordered a Leatherneck Tanto (fixed blade) just to have.

I keep one of my XL Tanto Voyagers in my Bug Out Bag, that rides in my trunk, everyday. And, I always carry the a Large Tanto Voyager in my Fanny Pack, when I ride my Bike. I keep a XL Recon 1 Tanto in my glove box; I love my CS Tantos... Right on! Peace, Stiletto :-)

I have stripped the blades of my Recons using a flat screwdriver. Came off extremely fast and didn't scratch the blades at all. I just wanted to let you know. I appreciate your videos. Best regards from France.

I use wooden popsicle sticks. Right on. Make them yours. I like to do the same thing. Often, I will buy used or slightly damaged one's, cheap, on eBay, and refurbish them. Often, I will polish them when they are scratched or damaged. It's a fun hobby. Well done. Peace, Stiletto :-)

Big, beautiful CS Tanto blades you have there! Your Recon 1 with the stonewash blade is just striking to my eye! I am now thinking of buying a Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto after holding one myself. That, along with a Counter Point 1, Range Boss, and MAYBE a Voyager XL Drop Point, will make my desire come true. I plan on having all or some of these knives in the future, but there is no rush. I can't have a collection like you, JimiSlash, or other big time Cold Steel collectors. But with KZfaq, I can admire and dream. And pick up some pointers along the way!

Absolutely, Bro. And, my Collection is an accumulation of knives, that I have Collected during my lifetime; I have always been a Lover of the Blade... :-) :-) :-) And, your taste and choices are, to me, awesome blade choices. I absolutely luv all the one's you mentioned. One thing that I have noticed, since I started trying out different Lock Types and Manufacturers, is that Andrew Demko/Cold Steel (CS) Tri-Ad Lock Folders are the strongest and most durable lock type that I have ever experienced on any folder. And, the Tri-Ad self adjust. Not all of the new lock types self adjust. And, the one's that do, don't self-adjust as well as the Cold Steel Tri-Ad Lock does. I think it would be very cool if Cold Steel created a Flipper Folder with some type of self adjusting Tri-Ad Lock... If you can, check out the S.O.G. Twitch's locking mechanism. To me, it looks a lot like a Tri-Ad Flipper... It just needs to be built by the Folding Knife Lock Master, Andrew Demko... You have a great plan, Bro! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

@@Kris_Stiletto Thanks, man! I always love your feedback. And you are right. The TriAd lock is the best way to go. Lynn Thompson was smart to get Andrew Demko on his team. Demko took Cold Steel to another level with lock strength. I have had the Kudu with the Ring Lock, the Pocket Bushman with the Ram Safe Lock. But now, ALL of my folding knives are equipped with TriAd locks. You just can't go wrong with them. I buy knives, and I also sell knives on the side. And I tell my clients that the TriAd lock is the one you can rely on in a pinch. You may have some duds; people are not perfect so some slip through the cracks. But for the most part, Cold Steel knives with the TriAd lock give little or no problems. I love it! It is my favorite locking mechanism for a folder.
@Kris_Stiletto

Absolutely agree, Bro. Lots of the other folding lock types are much more fun to fidget with. But, when it comes to ounce for ounce folding lock strength, the Andrew Demko/Cold Steel Tri-Ad is super hard to beat. Other, real good, lock types require a very strong SS liners, components, and hardware to be strong. That ends up making a very heavy folder for it's size... With the Tri-Ad, you don't need heavy SS liners and other over built parts to make a strong folder. And, then, as we have seen in many challenges between CS Tri-Ad Folders vs Other's, the Tri-Ad, in it's weight class, is unbeatable. That's the big reason why I like them. They can be light for their size and stronger than anything else in their weight class... Andrew Demko is the Folding Knife Lock Master. And, he designs knives that are comfortable in hand and have good balance. Other Knife Designers and Makers can make them fancier, prettier, and more fun to fidget with. But, nobody makes them better or stronger; Andrew Demko, "ROCKS!!!" :-) Peace, Stiletto :-) My wish would be for GSM CS to make a line of Premium Tri-Ad, Scorpion, and Shark-Lock Folders in the United States. Much like Brian Tighe does with his U.S. Made Mid-Techs... I would be all into those... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Me, too... :-) I pretty much absolutely luv all of the Cold Steel Mega Folders; I pretty much have several of all of them... Though, the one's I carry the most are my Tanto and Drop Point Voyagers. I like that they're inexpensive (if they get confiscated) and have awesome Tri-Ad Locks, Handle Grips, and Blades. But, I absolutely luv all of the Mega's from Cold Steel. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

American CTS-XHP XL Recon 1. I have an all black one; that's my favorite XL Recon 1. But, I carry, everyday, in my Bug Out Bag, an XL Japanese AUS 10A Tanto Voyager. :-)

My Voyager Tanto XL in Stonewash I get tomorrow. After an old Recon 1 and a Cimitar my third Cold Steel knife. The old Recon 1 (in black and with Bowie blade) is apparently indestructible and now needs a big brother. Actually I collect handmade knives from Laguiole France, but Cold Steel always goes. Greetings from Germany.

I luv the French Folders, too... I have a small Collection of Classic Folders from around the World, also. Great choices! I absolutely luv Deutschland. I am a U.S. Army Veteran, that spent 2 years in Dexheim, Germany. I was with the 8th Infantry Division. And, I was Stationed at the Anderson Barracks, with the 12th Engineers from 1979 to 1982. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

@@Kris_Stiletto In 1982 I was in the German Army on the Tender Main on the Baltic Sea. Unfortunately, the one-handed knives from a certain size are now banned here for some time, but since I'm a hobby nature photographer I hardly ever meet police anyway and I just take it with me.
