Yeah, the growls and shrieks are amazing. But the thing that consistently impresses me about Angelina in this video is how comfortable she is in the recording booth. The discipline she shows to keep quiet when it isn't her time to sing. A nine year old kid that has the presence and discipline and experience to know how all this stuff works is really pretty impressive.

This little prodigy is 9 and has arranged this whole take from Screaming Joe Hawkins's production known as The Boss, she has already won Norway Got Talent and has written a book "Between two Hearts" "Norway's youngest author" a story about why she performs barefoot Angelina speaks 2 languages fluently and sings in 5 languages and she plays the piano, flute, violin, and guitar and also paints awarded with a dynamite family that allows her to be a child while growing up a prodigy you can follow her videos "over 200 covers on U-tube" from age7 to present 18 also the best is her followers called angels "some of the nicest people on the net" that will deluge you with information about her to watch you hearing this musical master do what she loves singing Welcome to the rabbit hole

I totally agree, Angelina & Alma are Mozart-level musical phenoms. I haven't kept up with Alma the last few years since I'm not a Classical or Opera fan. But I've always been a jazz fan, so when I discovered AJ six years ago, I was hooked.

@@ClandOp Yes, I almost included Emily in that exclusive group of prodigy's & have watched 100's of Emily's videos in her younger years. I have her album when she worked with Quincy Jones. Her ability as a jazz pianist & to compose Classical & Jazz Music is amazing & I especially loved her ability to improvise music for movie soundtracks. But I stopped following her closely when she started to sing & do more pop style. Singing for me is Angelina, period!
@ClandOp
@ClandOp Ай бұрын
@@keithserafy Could not agree more about Emily -- she moved to LA and tried go pop, which IMHO was a terrible decision. Even more tragic than Jackie Evancho -- because Jackie really had no choice but to move to pop, since by the time she was a teenager there were a thousand classical singers to compete with her. David Foster of course exploited the heck out of her when she was around 11. But Emily was (is?) a brilliant musician and composer, and it's really a shame that she has largely disappeared from the scene. AJ's brilliance as a singer AND a composer has been much better managed -- maybe uniquely managed. If you think about a Michael Jackson or a Justin Bieber or a Miley Cyrus -- they couldn't live anything like normal lives as teenagers. Being from Norway has been a huge advantage for AJ -- she was a big fish in a small pond, and got used to fame in a perfect environment. Now it's paying off. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she has the most natural talent for the most complex of all vocal forms -- jazz -- than anyone I've ever experienced. Her performance of "Summertime" at age 8 in the finals of Norway's Got Talent is still the most remarkable vocal performance I've ever heard from a child. And her arrangement and performance of "Bohemian" on AGT given all the expectations of her fans (and I was already one of them at the time) was outrageous.

There is only one negative I could ever voice about Angelina and that is this " Her video performances are just way too short " no matter how long they are they seem like they were only a few moments . You get lost in them and before you know it, it is over.

Great reaction as always, my friend😊 Angelina was barely 9 years old here. 2 months past. I'm fairly sure that when Angelina gets recognized all around the world, this very recording will go down in history as one of the greatest ever by a person that age. It's just mind boggling. Have a great weekend! Love from Norway 🇸🇯❤️❤❤❤

Her love is in your heart and it will never leave you. So glad you have joined all of us from around the world on her musical journey. But, following Angelina has a lot more to do than listening to her sing. She is all about love and in her way she is asking us to join her, join her to make the world a better place to live for everyone and that can only be possible if we begin to love one another. How can a girl at 7, 8, 9, etc., years old do this? The aura of love around her has been evident since she was a tiny person and her love is very genuine, thus, we cannot resist. As you continue on her journey there is no interruption. As her voice changes as she ages she adapts to it and works very hard at incorporating all the new possibilities she can adopt. Something else that is never interrupted is her ability to touch our hearts with her love.

Greatest rendition of this iconic song ! Only 9 years old and delivering a masterful performance ! Child prodigy and musical genius for sure ! Angelina's performance is one for the ages ! It should be noted that Angelina told the band leader what she wanted and then led these seasoned studio musicians totally ! I have not heard any 9-year-olds sing Jazz like Angelina Jordan sings Jazz. Absolutely! So mature and with her jazz infused DNA is able to mimic deliver all the nuances, vocal dynamics, rifts and runs, rasp and fantastic vibrato to bring together an unbelievable experience for the listener ! It's uncanny the visual does not match the vocal dynamics for sure! Angelina Jordan at this young age was unbelievable and now at 18 is starting to show the world. what a true artist she is. I want to thank you for again reacting to Angelina Jordan. Please continue this wonderful Journey with us and we appreciate your wonderful KZfaq channel. All the Angels and new fans all over the world will continue to watch her through your channel. Have a great day and sending much thanks and love from Canada 👍🇨🇦❤️.

9 yrs old. Grammy performance. HER ARRANGEMENT!. Notice, right after the growl, the "scream" sound was actually formed while she inhaled! This was a once in a lifetime performance for AJ, in my opinion. She performaed the song a few times after, but this was beyond reproach to me. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I think you are becoming addicted to this remarkable artist. I know you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her.😀 As for me, I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZfaq, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpaWZtdkydOmkp8.html

Nick, thanks for the wonderful and amazed reaction, this song is one of the important steps to understand the singularity of Angelina's talent and also a great musical masterpiece and you're right to say it... God bless her! It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding for music in a splendid way, especially with these legendary songs. She is definitely the only 9-year-old girl who understands and has the courage and the ability to sing this song from Screaming' Jay, so imbued with his power, and reorganize it according to her musical sensibility and vision. I sincerely believe that this it's the most beautiful version of this song, over 60 years since it was written and there are much of versions of it, also interpreted by great singers. 💛🧡❤

I learned of Angelina 4 years ago and she continues to surprise me often. I am sure I have underestimated the scope of her talents. Many viewers skip through parts of videos. I almost never do. I guess they want to get to the 'good parts'. If you want to help any KZfaq channel, then watch each video on that channel in its entirety. No surprise, the KZfaq algorithm highly values 'watch time'. Angelina's Official KZfaq channel just passed 900k subscribers. Let's all help her reach one million quicker. I’ve been listening to Angelina for 5 or 6 years-and she still surprises me. I think she likes to throw us curve balls every once in a while. Her recent EP, Old Enough, is full of surprises. Angelina has shown us that she is comfortable is so many different genres that for Old Enough, she sort of invents her own. And even though you haven’t heard this music before, it’s immediately catchy, clever, and fun. It doesn’t matter what age or genre you choose for Angelina, but if you want to see what she’s done recently that will blow you away, try Diamond or Good in Goodbyes from her Old Enough release.

Every time you _didn't_ say something while watching this one, we all knew exactly what you were not saying.😁 Regarding "youth" and "genius": I've seen plenty of talented kids, including singers, both on YT and old-fashioned TV, and I can honestly say, I've never seen anyone like Angelina Jordan. Not even close.(*) I've even started going down a few YT rabbit holes before (some singers, some instrumentalists, some kids, some older), but Angelina is the first musical artist of any sort for whom my interest in them has survived that experience. I think the record before AJ was maybe 50 performances before I lost interest? I'm not sure… I've now seen well over 500 AJ performances (of _all_ sorts) and almost 10,000 reactions to her videos, and while I can't say I'm watching either type of video as much as I was during The Troubles a few years back, I still see/hear her every day, a little over 4 years after falling down the rabbit hole, and about 9½ years after discovering her for the first time (at which point there basically was no AJ rabbit hole to fall down, so that took a while to happen). The reason for this is simple: the more I've seen of her, the more impressed I've been. Usually after I get through the really popular stuff from an artist, the rare stuff is, generally speaking, less impressive. In the case of Angelina, the rare stuff is typically not recorded as well as the popular stuff, but that's really the only difference; her performances are just as good, and often better. (OK, TBH, there _are_ a mere handful of videos from when she was 7 and younger, and not yet known to the general public, where her singing is "a bit rough", but this is such a tiny percentage of her output - even if you limit your consideration to, say, before she signed with Republic Records at 14 - that she's gotta have one of the highest "batting averages" *ever* .) (*) To explain this a little more: I'm talking here not only about her obvious vocal talent but also how she presents that talent (and herself). I've never seen anyone be so impressive without seeming like they are trying to impress. I've never seen so much confidence that doesn't come off as a "show" of confidence - so much confidence married with so much humility, not just in the same person but at the very same time (not to mention for the same reason). Nor someone show so much humility without ever being at all self-deprecating. Nor someone so young be so mature and composed without that maturity and composure seeming "well rehearsed". Nor someone appear to be *such* a *total* sweetheart without seeming naive. The phrase that always comes to mind when I think about her personality is "rock solid" - not hard… not cold… but *solid* . I _really_ hope that she is at least one tenth as well put together in that reagrd as she seems to be. She's going to need every bit of that, given her career goals. (And as for that vocal talent, I've never heard anyone sing in such a wide variety of ways without it seeming "dilettantish". I could go on forever about her singing, but I can do that in future comments.) OK, I'm finished. Now, why am I typing 'Dennis'?🤔 [😉]

For more information on Angelina’s history, see Angelina Jordan’s Wikipedia Page - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jordan Below is a list of my recommendations for doing reactions to Angelina Jordan. 1. For the initial shock you should start with ‘I Put A Spell On You’ She was 9 years old when she did this. The link for this song is - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html 2. The next song you should react to is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLqSfsucyMu2YGQ.html - this will show you how her voice and presence has developed. 3. To follow her growth react to the following songs in order: At age 6 - ‘I Who Have Nothing’ her first time in a studio - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNCBja5z1bzFlac.html At age 7 - 8; Norway's Got Talent - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpmXhsugnt_KaGw.html At age 8 ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kLmWmqZ6rMqbm2g.html At age 10 ‘Feeling Good’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pp6bdK9e2K2uqGw.html At age 11 ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ia2oY8ebvbq8gZ8.html She also did this during Norway’s Got Talent, but she did it A Capella. At age 12 There are two songs of note here: ‘Shield’ which is one of her originals - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orekiMWHsMiUpqc.html She was invited to perform at Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday in London she sang what is sort of her anthem (she has sung throughout the years many times). This is the rehearsal for the show but it is excellent - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbObqtKiurSym3k.html At Age 13 she performed two songs on America’s Got Talent - and one other song of note - ‘I Have Nothing’ is a tribute to Whitney Houston - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7qTqdmAm6iXeaM.html On AGT ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for which she got the Golden Buzzer - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p6xgfbljndzLfKs.html On AGT ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ in the finals - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ar5_gNaczLScp2g.html - but she didn’t win. A lot of people are upset about that, but I think it’s the best thing that happened to her. At Age 16 she has three new covers. The newest and the best is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLqSfsucyMu2YGQ.html She has released a new version of I Have Nothing - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n75gmpxqz7SWZok.html - which is probably the best song she has done so far. The other is ‘My Funny Valentine - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mL2Zf7KfrbC9qJs.html Angelina dropped her latest song on May 5th 2023 it is the first song off her new album which will be out soon. The name of the song is ‘Love Don’t Let Me Go’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7tmiryQ3566pWw.html - She wrote the song and in an interview said that all of the songs on the new album will be songs she wrote and had a major part in their arrangements. The current song that is number 1 on my playlist is Unchanged Melody kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jt6UqKqEz6euc6M.html , this performance is at the Nobel Piece Prize presentation. She has done several Adel covers and one other song of note - ‘Million Miles’ - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abGoqdqmv53TdYE.html - this is an original that she wrote in honor of her grandfather after he passed away. It is also the first song released under her contract with Republic Records. Rusty Shackelford has a KZfaq playlist that includes all of her videos, including TikTok and Instagram. I have a playlist of Angelina's videos which is approaching 300,000 views (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.)
