14-21 is my favorite generation. I own a 21' TRD Sport Premium, 5.7L 4x4 and it is the best truck I've ever owned. Bought brand new, have around 55k on it, the truck is flawless, not 1 problem. Yeah the truck is a bit dated in tech, being as it is the last year of this gen, but that's what makes it special. I'm going to drive this truck until the wheels fall off.

If the 07-13 truck would've had a 6.5' bed on the crew max, and an integrated brake controller it would have been literal truck perfection!

the bed size is my biggest complaint on my 13 CM. even though it'd be huge, id love to get the Double cab w/long bed frame to swap under my cab, and go for the regular DC bed. may or may not be possible, but i thought a company was making them at one point...

TundraDude, thanks for the trip down memory lane. I’d prefer the column shifter that I had on my 2013 DC over the console setup I have now with current 2018 TRD DC. The fold down console in the split bench was plenty big enough. I felt great on long trips to be able to move right leg around.

I absolutely agree, 07-14 was the best. I'm a proud owner of a silver 07 regular cab short bed 4x4 with the 4.7 only 50k miles. I have a 3' lift with nice aftermarket wheels and meaty tires. Also a Gibson dual exhaust that sound so good. This is the 2nd 07 Regular cab I've owned, the first one had the column shift while the second one has the console shift. In hindsight I prefer the column shifter, feels more roomy and is more oldschool unique by today's standards. One cool thing about the regular cab is the passenger seat folds down to make a flat surface also to access the space behind the seats which is huge for a regular cab. The seats can also recline very far back unlike the Big Three regular cabs, also how incredibly wide the doors are compared to all other Tundra configurations. The Regular cab short bed Tundra is a rare breed that I feel honored to drive. The looks and design really have stood the test of time, I constantly get compliments from random people.

Felt the 2013 had more power and the shifting was smoother and more consistent. Interior felt more robust and tougher. Fit and finish was better than my 21. I agree that the 2007-2013 were better trucks. Not saying my 21 isnt a great truck because i absolutely love my truck! I test drove a few 22 tundra and they feel like a rattly tin can. I liked your review, and might add, that I purchased a new 2007 Tundra Limited in early 2007. I still have it as my everyday truck. It had a lot of special features at the time. I was the first of my friends to get the new model Tundra, and after driving it, 3 of my friends went out and purchased the 4 door extended cab version for themselves. Now after 17 years we all still have the same truck. I believe mine is the lowest mileage at 88k, and I never intend to sell or trade. My son wants it when I eventually pass. Love Tundra's! I have a 2005. Boyfriend bought his 2013 new ... Awesome truck as well. So sad... His tundra was totaled a few days ago. Truck saved his life. He was smashed from the back and projected to the vehicle in front of him on the freeway with no warning. He and I loved that double cab adventure truck. Traveled on the road (with our kitty copilot!) for solid 2yeara with a truck camper and garage trailer (hauling motorcycle and other toys). Towed great with that load. Many ppl approached us asking how well our tundra does pulling that weight. They sounded concerned. We were not.We set it up correctly and we're good to our truck and she was good to us. It was the best tundra. So sad it gone. Many happy memories. We are Toyota people and specifically love Tundra's. Now the search is on for a new to us tundra. Probably between 2014-2021. Again it is so sad when any tubdra is creamed, let alone your own! And... One that was well cared for, no problems no rust... It was in great condition! A 6 seater. More rare. Great truck. Be safe out there. So many bad drivers. Sometimes there's No notice when someone plows into the back of your rig on a busy freeway no matter how good of a driver you are. Was so sad to see his truck smashed and the airbags went off as well. So glad he is ok Solid truck. Search is on for another.

I went to Denver from Erie Pa to pick up a high mileage 213,000 , 2007 Tundra CM. I wanted something that was rust free and you can't find that in Pa, Ohio or NY so I drove my rust bucket 2013 Silverado out there to trade it in. I paid 15,900 for my 2007 and I drove it home off the lot without a hiccup. I did a lot of things to the Tundra when I got it home, and it wasn't cheap to bring all the maintenance up to date but it was worth it. The truck runs and drives like new. I wouldn't hesitate to ever buy another high mileage Toyota. The things are bomb proof if you keep up with the maintenance....

Bought an '08 double cab TRD Off Road in pyrite mica about a year ago. One owner, 155,000 miles and the interior was like new. The stock suspension was shot so I installed the Eibach front coilover setup that comes with the springs and the leveling already set along with rear shocks. It rides fantastic now. Added an up to date stereo system and that's it. Put about 10,000 miles on it since I had it as a daily driver. Nothing rattles, it rides great, engine makes no noise and runs like a sewing machine, transmission shifts like new. I paid top dollar at the time, $16,000 but you would be hard pressed to find another truck like this one it the condition it is in. I see a ton of old Tundras as work trucks every day and I know why. As reference, I've owned a 2006 first gen, great trucks but the fit and finish left a lot to be desired, and a 2015 which I should have kept.

I've got an intersting silver 2011 SR5 DC 4x4 with the 5.7L. It's interesting because of all the add ons that I think were dealer installed like black leather interior, skid plate, spray-on bed liner and side window deflectors. From the factory it came with power seats, power rear window, back up camera, fog lamps and cold winter package. All this to say it's a loaded SR5 which I really like and it doesn't have things I don't care about like a touch screen on the center console. I've put the brushed aluminum wheels on it along with Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires. It's a great truck that's got power when you need it but is also a smooth comfortable ride that can be driven daily, the best news is mine only has 127k miles on it...

Ive owned the 2000, 2013, 2014, and 2019. One thing you didnt mention was all of the different colors you could get back then. Even interior colors were more varied. Now, look around. The SR's and SR5's can be had in any color as long as its white, black, silver, or gray. And seems you get a grey interior on everything, no variation. And yes, the interior features on an SR5 trim level on the 2nd gen were amazing. Had to upgrade to Limited or Platinum on the later models to get many of the little details that came standard on the earlier SR5's.

The technology of the new 22' tundra is really great, but you can change the inside all you want. The heart of the "older" beasts won't die. Being a first time owner of a 21' 1794 is an AWESOME experience but also satisfying in the fact that I purchased one of the best and last of the 5.7 V8 engines that won't die, unlike the new generation, but that's just my ¢3. And I'm not hating on the new generation owners, in fact I congratulate them and hope they get everything they need and hope for in a TUNDRA. ....... 5.7 LITER V8 FOREVER 🤗

I just bought a 2011 Tundra TRD Limited 4x4 with 68,000 miles for $22,000. Awesome truck with everything. Heated seats, pivoting headlights, collision avoidance, back up camera, navigation, power rear window, power adjustable seats with lumbar and leg height adjustment. Has the 5.7 liter v8 with the bulletproof 6 speed transmission. Immaculate condition. After 3 months I'm already in love with this truck!

Solid video and very interesting thank you. You’re gonna laugh but my wheels are the ones on my truck a 2005! Anyway I did have a question do any of these engines have direct injection or cylinder deactivation? It’s some thing I’m trying to stay away from. Thank you.

I have had three Tundras starting with an 07, then 12, now a 2015 I put air levelers on all three, and I've pulled max load even a little more with no problem and I now pull a goose neck trailer and my 2015 pulls 11000 lbs with no problem it is a double cab two wheel drive 6 and a half foot bed. Oh my 2015 has 315, 000 miles and it runs great. No replacing a 5.7 V8 with a six it won't last like the V8.

I came across a 2007 Toyota Tundra on a popular auction website approximately a year ago. It had a little over 14,400 on the odometer. first owner was a retired gentleman who occasionally drove it to home depot. The individual I purchased it from had clayed the paint. Other than some scratches and small dents, it is in amazing condition! All I wanted was simple trunk. I paid way too much for it, but figuring inflation, I didn't do too bad. The only issue I have is the drive tran

Yes sir, if you don't want a 1st gen Tundra the 2007 to 2013 Tundra are the best. I drive a 4.7 2002 regular cab long bed, and a 5.7 2007 regular cab short bed ... BOTH are SR5 Unicorns with split bench seating. The 2002 is my dedicated work truck that my clients take comfort in seeing me drive up in these past 20 years - that's two decades driving the same work truck. My 2007 is more of a sport truck that I drive for fun, or when conditions like driving into Atlanta warrant more safety features... I would not want to part with either on of them. I replaced the head unit in the '07 for Bluetooth capability that I never use... it has a single CD player, and I will investigate adding a changer because I also love me some CDs. The 2002 has a factory 6 disc changer with amp... it works great.

I just bought a 15' sr5 double cab with the 6.5 bed. It has the 4.6. It drives great but is definitely underpowered compared to what im used to. It doesn't really get any better gas mileage than my gmc with the 6.0 on the freeway. 4x4 works great aand theres many things i like about it. I just couldn't find the same thing in my price range with the 5.7. I hope the Toyota reliability makes up for it. It will be a good mountain truck this summer.

I really liked the debadged, no chrome rock warrior models. I looked hard for one when I needed a new truck. That being said - I was able to find a used 2021 sr5 TRD off-road with all the upgraded amenities (radar cruise, bigger gas tank, etc) in 2022 when everyone was trying to get the new tundra. Honestly - I was between this truck and the trail version- but the trail version wasn’t readily available in my area. Either way- I’ve got everything I need with this truck, and if I end up towing more later I can add a transmission cooler. I currently use it to drive on the beach, hunt, camp, go to the range. I’ve outfitted it with go rhino running boards and decked drawers in the back. I do wish I got the double cab and not the crew cab, but I’m not getting rid of this truck any time soon

My second comment on your channel today. I love my 2011 Double Cab SR5 with 6.5 ft bed (other than the milage.) Bought it with 112,000 miles and it drives like new. I've added a cabover contractor's canopy (only 600 lbs) that serves as an economy camper and cargo hauler. I mounted solar panels on top so I have remote power and heat if I need it. The ride is excellent with minimum road noise.

Agree! 2010 DC 245,000 never spent a night in the shop for anything other than routine service. It works hard all week (lumber rack that gets USED!) and plays hard all weekend - tows a boat, overland camping and wheelin'. You didn't mention the seats... Great!!! My Runner LTD feel like a park bench in comparison. The styling is very RAMish but I don't hold that against it.
Should you buy a Toyota Tundra 2007-2021?
