HB, it is coming together, it might be worth putting painters tape round where you’re going to glue up. It’s worth spending some time on doing this as it makes it easier for cleaning up afterwards., when setting your hinges in it’s a good idea to make sure your number your hinges it might seem strange, but sometimes they can vary in the length of them sometimes, I normally leave somewhere between three and four mil gap all round the door, and whether the two doors come together in the centre they overlap by approximately 15 mil from what I can remember, this way you can put in two rubber seals, and I normally use what they call Euro in both sets of doors, the slave door just locks top and bottom the master door locks top bottom and in the centre as well, Though this is the professional way of doing it, you do need some serious amount of equipment to do the job, Because I had a lot of work in making doors, I ended up buying a Mafell door lock mortising machine, considering you have not a lot of space and not a lot of tools and equipment, I think you’re doing exceptionally well, keep at it you’ll get there, I just remembered it might be worth making up a pair of A- frames, which you can attach to either side of the door frames to stand the door frame upright whilst you installing all the gear, Keep up the great work look forward to seeing the finish project,

Hals Wood Shop...So I can say I have learned a lot from your Channel and watched from your past Shop and now this Shop. The solid joinery ( a bane of screw pockets) , table saw techniques and reworking to inspire watchers. Planning and planning...maybe some errors to learn from. Books and so nice not to see sketchup..yup old guy here I did pencil paper mechanicall drafting in high school but now give me an object and I can draw it or copy it and show it 3D in seconds. The doors project has not been more to my taste but a lesson in learning to me. Great work. Show it off. Keep up the Channel. Thanks.

Hey Honey Badger! Hope your weekend is going well. I agree with you that sometimes it seems like a certain project can go on with no end in sight. But just wait until you finish up and see how nice those doors are going to look. You show the signs of true craftsmanship in your ability to make sure that everything is done the way it should be , by way of the many times you go through the motions of dry fitting certain areas of the construction and double checking areas that you have already checked. Also checking out how if you had went with regular wood glue instead of epoxy there could have been a risk of joint failure. I didn’t know that myself, so I learned something also. Once these doors are done and in place, you’ll walk away with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment of a job well done. Wondering what the finish is going to be, Water Lox or Osmo ? Or something else? Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Your work is exceptional...the advice from professionals (???) is questionable (which is an opinion not asked for; apologies in advance for that.) Ask yourself this; why is it that...modern industrial fenestration...made with plastics, aluminum, “engineered wood” and all manner of industrial materials of many types and held together with plastics (i.e. epoxy being plastic) all only have 25-year warranties on most? I have restored traditional windows and doors over 300 years old and consulted with colleagues working on doors over 600 years old in Europe. I found your channel and joined while a client was researching traditional doors as they wanted me to build them similar to this, which I wouldn’t as I only work in the folk styles and mostly with “green wood” by the modern perspective of “cooked wood,”...LOL. Again your craft and work are exceptional and I have loved following along on this project. My worry is the finish you select is also a “plastic finish” which just does not last as claimed and traditional finishes do not play well with plastic glues unless you get it all off well which it seems you are cleaning up well as you went. I appreciate your concern about which glue to use. Neither your doors nor what I am making currently for this timber frame project are, fully traditional in context. Traditional fenestration is held together with a “drawn joiner,” along with traditional glues and caulking. I look forward to seeing how these come out, as I’m at the same stage on this project with all the same bothers…LOL!!!

I don’t have a track saw either but I made a track for my circular saw. I took a piece of 1/4” about 1.5 times wider than the plate of the saw. Glued a runner to one side and run the saw both sides to cut to fit my circular saw. And then made multiple sizes from 24” to 8’ long. 😊

As you come to needing a track saw more, just tell your next customer that the additional cost is due to having to buy a track saw. Tell them everyone must contribute. I am sure they will go along with that. Yeah.

Epoxy was the right choice. I used to use Tight Bond 3 for everything. About 7 years ago I made a desk for my daughter, and I was pretty happy with it. She bought a gaming laptop about 5 years ago and sometimes later the desktop developed a gap right at the glue line. I felt like I must of messed up the glue up. I called tightbond product support and they pretty much corroborated your author. TB recommended to extend for the application which is ASTM D-905 rated for 150 f. I went ahead and reminded and reglued with it. Not the best solution however, as the temperatures on the bottom of the laptop were higher. I should have used epoxy. My daughter now uses a laptop riser.

I made some signs using Tite Bond 3 and after the first storm half the letters fell off. I brought my compressor and nailed them all back on.
