Sting admiting that he's willingly not going after a world title because he knows his time is almost up was a sad, but epic moment. Sting doesn't need a title run in AEW, he just needs to be STING!

Those of us who have been Sting fans, for decades now, have had a feeling this year would be his retirement tour. One of his greatest rivals, the Great Muta retired this year. Another of his great rivals, Ric Flair retired last year. Add in that Sting's contract expires this year and it just makes perfect sense. Sting wanted one more run to go out on his terms and AEW has given him that.

@@cjerome93hall MJF and Cody were best friends when AEW began. MJF was his right hand man and then when Cody and Jericho fought to be the first ever AEW world heavyweight champion on their first Double or Nothing PPV, MJF threw in the towel while Cody was in the walls of Jericho. That ultimately cost Cody to not only lose but the stipulation was if he did not win the AEW title, he could never have another chance to go for the AEW world heavyweight title ever again. This was the start of heel MJF. Anyways Sting just used it as a comparison to him and Darby’s relationship to MJF’s and Cody back when AEW was just starting.

One thing that I liked about this segment? Sting 100% put Darby over without making it all about himself. A lot of the time in the past when they've tried similar things, it ends up being more about the legend than the guy they're trying to put over, people only end up remembering the legend, but this time it really worked. Especially touching that Sting acknowledges he's too old and nearing retirement to challenge for the title, which while sad, is a bit of reality that's nice compared to the shouted out Flair who is still wrestling.

Sting wasn't a good promo guy until later in his career. I've watched Sting since he was a Blade Runner in the UWF and he learned to be a promo guy and Sting himself has said how terrible he was at promos in his early days and I agree. Sting saying that Showtime for him was almost over is kind of depressing for a one time 12 year old "Little Stinger", but life is such.

@woodhawk109

Sting's retirement match should be a 1 on 1 with Darby but not as a feud. It should be a simple "final exam" for Darby. The apprentice must defeat the master. If this happens this year, either the Wembley show or All Out would be a great place to host it. "Sting's Last Match" has a nice ring to it. He puts over Darby and went out while the stadium chants his name as snows begin to fall. You can't ask for a better ending to a legend than that

Sting has been around since I was in high school in the late 80s (showing my age...I'm 51). Sting beat Flair for the title a month after I graduated in 1990. TK doesn't have the intimidating presence that Sting has. Sting can still go...and at 64 years old, that's freaking impressive. AEW needs a General Manager, an authority figure. When Sting finally hangs up his boots, he should wipe off the face paint, put the sunglasses back on Main Event Mafia style and run AEW with an iron fist. For a body-builder from Venice Beach who didn't know anything about pro wrestling, Sting sure did become the embodiment of the sport. He's one of the best to ever do it.

I think the reason why Jericho is feuding with Adam Cole is because Chris Jericho is Adam Cole's favorite wrestler growing up & this is his chance to wrestle him before it's too late. I believe a Sting & Jericho match will be the last match for both. Jericho's said he wants a match with Sting & since he's apart of AEW creative & TK's BFF, he'll get it.

Sting coming back was an absolutely absurd and beautiful moment he is a living legend and when he nominated Cody Rhodes and smacked him for his defeat at Wrestlemania 39 it was a truly absurd and hilarious moment 😈😈😈😈😈😈😂😂😂 😂🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I gotta give props to MJF. If I was sharing the same squared circle with wrestling legend Sting, I could not contain my excitement.

Epic. Legend. Enough words said... Knew this was coming for a while, especially after Muta, but he's been my hero since the 90s, and he will go out... My hero in the 2020s 🤘🤘🤘

@@RJ-fe9pu I never said that it was ... only that you lose kayfabe when all of your top guys are so little. Both Darby Allen and MJF look like adolescents standing next to Sting.

@@matthewmagda4971 Chris beniot wasn't tall either nor Eddie G in fact men on average are Darby Allin size.. The Brian Cage's of the world are phenomenal athletes but they are the Exception not the rule.. Personally couldn't care less about Keith Lee or that 7 ft guy and Jericho is getting dangerously close to way past due
