Slow Stitching is a fun activity where artists sew unique designs and make each piece original. In today's video, I show my process for combining different types and widths of lace to create a panel. This panel can be used as a background or in my case, the cover of a fabric book.
The result is a dimensional and textured panel that can be either feminine and delicate or highly structured.

Another lovely idea and so many tips to inspire us crafters - I like the fact there are no fancy stitches to remember so the lace is the main star of this project- thanks for the fun video

You're welcome. There are so many ways to dress this up or down with stitches, beads, and other fun stuff. I just love the bare lace.... for now. :)

These pieces are beautiful. I love how these create a different feeling when stitched to denim as well. If I may, I have a question. I am stitching a textile piece with lace pieces and fabrics which I have then embroidered but I want to mount the finished piece on a piece of mountboard to frame. I was thinking should I glue it (maybe using a gel medium?) Or stitching the piece to some mixed media paper or khadi paper and gluing the paper to the board? Thank you so much for sharing your process and your art. Very inspiring xx

Sounds lovely. I would stitch the piece to either paper and then attach to the board. My reasoning is that the liquid adhesive (gel medium, fabric glue) may affect the textile piece by either staining the piece or making the fabric stiff (perhaps, unevenly).

I made a stitch book from Charlotte Lyons or House Wren Studios. I just don’t know how I want to add the pages. I’m also working on the 10 page sampler from Kim Alpaca that is free. I want to concertina fold those pages but it is so confusing.

Sounds very fun. There are many ways to add pages, and many variations to those ways, too.
