Grandmaster Ben Finegold shows the kids the famous Donald Byrne - Bobby Fischer game, known as "The Game of the Century." The game is not known for its perfection, but rather for the impressive play of the 13 year old prodigy Fischer.
Donald Byrne vs Robert James Fischer, Third Rosenwald Trophy (1956): A15 English opening

I think the kids must get confused sometimes, when Ben talks to Them like they are 60 years old. Old man jokes.

I think he is awful. He is arrogant, condescending and intimidating. His "jokes" are inappropriate for such a young audience. The best I have seen teaching young kids is Yasser Seirawan.

Smothered mate, I assume he's referring to bondage or something and I also believe that him saying that was the joke in and of itself

Classic Ben, wrecking a top player like that in the first 45 seconds. I know Caruana didn't do well at Norway, but where did that come from? Stlll hilarious and entertaining, nonetheless.

Leelee Phoenix To be fair, not all games he won were very convincing wins, but came with a lot of help from his opponents. Impressive result at Dortmund regardless.

Dago 64, he was talking about American players. Steinitz was Austrian. [Edit] As my recent research suggests, Steinitz was in the U.S. during the later stages of his life, so you're not really wrong. :)

'The crazier he got the better he played'. The bigger the gap in his intellect became, the harder it becomes for us simpletons to understand his brilliancy, which probably seemed like crazy

Schizophrenia is not an affliction limited to the highly intelligent. It's a neurological condition. Fischer was a genius, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that Fischer was a genius playing without a full deck.

Nationalism is considered bad but Patriotism not necessarily so. I think that's what Ben meant to say. Patriotic.

Sam Rosenbalm Patriotism is Nationalism, roughly, mostly.

The Anti-Theist Good. We need people who are patriots to admit that they, too, are nationalists. That way people like me won't be treated so badly all the time (I am a Third Positionist).

Sam Rosenbalm Good? not good, I guess I didn't make it clear, that is not a good thing. It is widely known that nationalism (This being the extreme high raise for one's own country and race), and in turn at the very least the indifference if not dislike or quite shockingly common hatred towards every other country and race. Global nationalism is rather what we ought to have and aim for, this being the respect, understanding and fondness towards other countries and races, I personally love the English and Englishness just as much China, France, Russia etc. If I may quote, this is quite apt. 'You know what I want to think of myself? As a human being. Because, I mean I don't want to be like "As Confucius say," but under the sky there is but one family. It just so happens man that people are different.'

The Anti-Theist Me, I am Far-Right and strive for traditionalism. It's very obvious to me that multiculturalism has ALREADY failed. So if you are going to try to convince me that it has not, you'd better pack a lunch. I do have eyes, you know. And from recent polls, so does everyone else. Trump will be the next US president, the far-right is rising in Europe, you really do espouse an ideology that is on borrowed time. People are waking up everywhere in the west. It is very encouraging to someone like me who loves truth.

The Anti-Theist Think what you want. I know beyond all doubt that communism, particularly Trotskyism, is the source of our problems in the west. Internationalism, cultural marxism, and bleeding heart liberalism has had a detrimental effect on our people (westerners). This is so obvious that I am completely shocked anyone would think otherwise. If we continue on our present course, in 100 years there won't even be a west. The west will be indistinguishable from the third world. I am encouraged by recent events, however. And I feel that this will NOT happen. I am not religious in the least, though I have a healthy respect for traditional religion. I am also 100% pro-Israel and despise antisemitism. In any case, I refuse to discuss this further. I truly wish you well, however. Goodbye.
