5.7L 345 V8 is Boost Engine? In this we will see how much boost a 5.7L V8 hemi can run without forging the pistons & rods (bottom end). The 5.7L has a 10.5:1 compression & is said to be only able to run 7-8lbs of boost. The 5.7L 345 & 6.4L 392 V8 Hemi haven't been known for being great boost engines. This shows how much boost can you run on stock 5.7L 345 V8 Hemi using a supercharger or turbo.

Great job Don... you looked flustered haha.. To touch on what don said.. there is a ton of tq management in the car to save the trans.. its working.. but its also more than just power being pulled on the shift.. its alot deeper.. the fact that this thing is working so good is definitely all Daves brain being put to use.. being as he started with a slipping shifts banging rev limiter ride when you were only running like 11.3s and 4s.. so its come along way lolol... As far as the boost.. the boost is 100% safe.. the timing placements.. the type of blower.. the way it builds boost in the rpm.. all that matters.. cylinder pressure and controlling the heat are some real things.. this stuff is more than a simple boost number.. so many variables go into it.. I think we could push it more with a stronger trans 😃

Man that’s a lot of boost. Saving the trans is one thing, con rods, pistons etc is another. But hey that’s just what I’ve read on forums. If he can make it work reliably over time, we’ll the proof is in the pudding. I bet he has a plan though if stuff starts breaking!

I've researched similar. Many tuners & shops will not go past 7-8lbs. Pretty cool to see someone push the 5.7L to the limits & see what it can do.

The stock bottom end in the gen iii/iv hemi is rock solid. You just gotta gap it right and build the motor correctly. Lots of math and proper machining required.

Also running 14psi on my 5.7 stock bottom end, daily driven no issues. Car runs low 7 60-130s full weight, 93 with meth injection.

The pistons in the 5.7l hemi are skirt coated and aluminum. They can last under 15psi but won't last forever. The rods are a little better than the pistons. I would not be afraid to run 8psi with an excellent tune, but I would never exceed that amount lol. . . Also, I do agree that centrifugal is the route to go, otherwise other modifications may be necessary.

Keep in mind he gapped the rings and was running a turbo 400 trans if I’m not mistaken, but yes, stock bottom 5.7 can make big power, it’s the trans that’s holding me back now.

At his skill level, he could be making serious money, it may be a worthwhile investment. I do try to check his channel periodically and generate some ad revenue. I told people the 392s and 5.7s can make power without building the internals but truthfully it’s the hellcat boys telling you that because they don’t want to get gapped by a car that’s 40 grand less than it even Richard holdener made 1000 hp in hemi in his big bang test

Umm.. I’m not the smartest guy in the world but I thought stock meant… STOCK? I’m the beginning you said aside from the pro charger and cam it was stock.. According to that long list of things I counted at least 4 things gave his car more horsepower or made it run better that weren’t the pro charger or the cam.. I’m not hating by any means cuz I like his car But In what way is his car stock other than the pro charger and cam? I’m confused

When most say their engine is "Stock" or "Stock bottom end" they're referring to not having forged pistons, rods, crank, ported heads etc. The engine isn't setup properly to run higher boost levels. I understand what you mean - this thing is far from stock overall.

I think the problem people are having is you're taking a car from the factory with factory specs that means you have a weak transmission you have a weak Gering not to mention the axles are week the brakes are weak the cooling system is weak all of it not designed to go over 500 horsepower you are basically putting yourself in a money hole this is not the 80s where you have to go out and build your own car just to go fast they actually sell them to pretty much anybody with money

I had a 1991 Mitsubishi VR4 twin turbo V6 I upgraded the turbos had a 9-second car use the Dual turbo timer and 125 shot of NOS everything broke on that car over and over it's not designed for it it will break
