I saw this game a few days ago.. I thought it was chess from another dimension. Sacrificed two minor pieces and still won. Was hoping you would cover this.

I suspect for many openings, calculating out to 60 moves there will be some interesting sacrifices that would disrupt chess as we presently know it. It should be noted that it's not just calculating many moves out but in the algorithm of move trimming as what may seem like terrible moves may presently be not even considered and thus in slowing down a chess engine by considering more moves and seeing them out, it is here that we could see some novel play that moves into the opening arena.

I probably would have mistakenly played Re1 without calculating thinking bringing in the extra piece must be right.

Yes, me too, and it's completely losing. This is chess from another dimension as the other poster says. Spock's 3D chess.

I think that LC0 played the same line. I would venture a guess that both stockfish and LC0 are now on the level with Alpha0, the IBM program that destroyed stockfish 8 in a match back in 2016. stockfish is rated over 3660 on the TCEC with LC0 around 3630.

Great game... I also thought of f5...Thank you for sharing. The only question that I have is when B b5, why not Bd7... what would be the best attack?

as to 'why didnt rubichess take the rook in the end', my guess is that taking it will drop the piece count to 8, then with a shallow search it figure out h pawn is unstoppable and have to give up the rook for it, getting piece count into 6 and losing automatically due to endgame database. not taking the piece actually make it slower to get checkmate/enter 6 piece losing position, so not taking delay the game by the most.

The organizers pre-set the first couple of moves until the AIs can take over. If you don't do that, you'll never get into interesting positions. They would just play 100s of games with the same opening.
