Great video! I've been thinking I can't make spheres because I don't have the right tools, but you just listed everything I have at my disposal. Now to finally put those hole saws to a good use. Thanks!

@@bisonhillstonecrafts5122 I have no immediate plans to, but I'll let you know if I do. I was actually looking for ideas on how to build a dedicated sphere machine. I'd love to make some small spheres or marbles, like an inch or so in diameter. Finding the right motor for the job is my first problem to figure out.

I found a few absolutely stunning agate rocks in decorative landscape rocks. A few are multicolored like a rainbow. All had numerous layers and in gorgeous patterns. I collect both rocks and marbles to name a few things. These agates are stunning and I'd be afraid I'd ruin them. I wish I could find someone nearby who could do a good job. I'm in central Illinois.

Surely there must be a lapidary club nearby that could give you a hand, both classfying and cutting your rocks. I've heard they are fairly common in the US since cabochon making was a common hobby there last century. I for one would love to have access to the lab equipment neccesary to find out if some of my veined silica rocks contain botroidal calcedony or common opal; or if some of my banded rocks should be considered agates or rather banded chert because of their structure. ^___^

Yes, it would work with any stone you can cut with a diamond hole saw. For super hard stuff you'll probably go through more than one diamond bit so it's good to have extras.

That is way better than Chinese stone beads. Chinese: heat treat, bleach stones and fill all tiny cracks with epoxy resin glue. Chinese bead stones are all man altered to different color and appearance from stone's original state.
