Hi Michael, if the hole is to be smaller than 12mm I would use a solid diamond sintered bit with water failing that, a sharpened ( sharpen on a wheel like a HS drill bit) tungsten bit , smooth drilling not hammering as you will break out the back of the material. For holes bigger than 12mm a diamond core dill is by far the best option, use wet and place the slate to be drilled on a flat surface to reduce the breakout risk. Best of luck!

Never used acid for engraving. My thought would be that if you were going that route (etching rather than deep engraving) you might be better considering a laser system.Though to be honest I have not tried that either! Cheers
