Today's fun farm vlog is a tour of how a hatchery works! We'll visit Meyer Hatchery and see how folks that respect the tenderness of these little birds and show how they all truly love what they do. I ended up ordering from Meyer in the fall partially based on this video. The Meal Maker was a big part of that decision. First time owning chickens much less getting them in the mail. Got 8 beautiful birds of 7 different breeds and they are all happy and healthy and just about ready to start laying. Meal Maker turned out to be a beautiful Barred Rock who is my top hen and loved sit on my shoulder when she was younger.

I live on the west side of Wooster Ohio, we get our ducks from Meyer Hatchery. We love going to their open house. You should go if the COVID 19 outbreak is over by then,( it most likely won’t)

I just ordered 8 baby day old chicks today!! 🐣 From there company. I can’t wait this will be my first time raising them myself. I grew up going to my families farm picking & washing up eggs & racking. I’ve had one rode island red. Now it’s time to get my farm started. Wish me luck!!

I'm an electrician and had to the opportunity to work at a dog food facility recently. I was amazed how they had a boot sanitizer similar to this but never have I seen anything like it at a hospital. Lol it's funny that you said the same thing.

I'm so glad this randomly came up. I was considering ordering from them. I love their meal deal you mentioned. We actually already planned on adding more than we need to our coop so that we can help a few friends I have who have not been so fortunate in life and food doesn't always come easy to them. Website is very easy to navigate and helpful. Owner seems extremely knowledgeable. I get my order tomorrow, Hopefully no dead ones. been 3 days

@@ernesta5459 they did all arrive alive but after 2 days one of the ducks was sickly and died. 16/17 survived, pretty good they're starting to lay now.

This is so interesting to watch. I work at a farm store that gets chicks every week and this gives me a different perspective on how and where our chicks come from knowing they're cared for from the beginning!

First time I ordered it was from Meyers, I had 3 extra chicks and all of them survived many years. I have ordered from others since and never had I had a full batch of chicks survive until maturity. I would always order from Meyer if they had a bigger selection.

We have a great little hatchery where I'm from that's been around since 1917 but if I lived closer to Meyer I'd definitely shop there. Looks like a good operation and good people 👍 Thanks for the Vid.

LOVE THIS! I mostly buy from Ideal, because they're local, but I do buy from Meyer from time to time, just to get different bloodlines in my flock. I've never been disappointed with the birds I get from them. I love this tour of their process.

FYI nearly all farm stores will get their spring chicks from a hatchery, through the mail like any private person could have ordered to their own door step or local post office for pickup.

Ha! I recognized Karen from the catalog. Really interesting to see how they manage to keep the operation running behind the scenes. Next time you have to ask her how she started that business and how they select the breeders. I already liked Meyers. Now I like them more.
