@@AL-lz6px not really, they don't have a nervous system. From a scientific point of view they don't feel pain. It isn't even necessary, you could cut off almost all of a plant, like 95% and it'll just grow again... you shouldn't try that on a human. When something hurts you, you would stay away, but a plant can't go anywhere, feeling something would be just useless for plants.

@S A M 99% of all meat consumed in the US is factory farmed. Vegas are against that and you are against vegans? Yet claim to care about factory farming? That makes no sense. I know how animals are being treated. I work at a dairy farm, my best friend’s family owns pig farms and plant farms, and I love to hunt. Also: cows are terrible mothers, which is why we separate them.

@@shroudthewolf1105 they don’t care about their calves. With all the breeding that has been done over the years they have mostly lost their mother instincts apparently. I remember one of the times I was there for a birth, and the mother just left the calf to freeze in a mix of mud and dung.

I can only imagine how this is going to go over. I am a vegetarians of almost 10 years, one of my grandfathers operated a "family farm" as apposed to a factory farm. Calf's are not killed to get the mothers milk some are allowed to feed from their mothers for the first few months and then switched to a bottle so the mothers milk can be harvested. At least from what I know and have witnessed cows are not "raped" but are left with a bull, a male cow, while she is in heat in the hopes that they will mate its not forced. And in some cases when the cows/bulls are too old to mate and/or give milk they are kept on as a kind of pet vs sending them off to market, though that can happen. Actual farmers care about their live stock more then just the money they can bring in at market. Farmers can and do develop bonds or relationships with said live stock the same way they and us develop relationships with a cat, dog or any other pet. So many vegans come off uneducated. Yes I'm a vegetarian but my reasons for not eating meat are not the same as theirs.

In the defence of people who argue about cows being mistreated, they are in some situations. The situation that you have described is the Australian dairy industry. In Australia, our livestock are, for the most part, treated very well. However, in many industrialised countries, this is not the case and it is quite cruel. Still love me a good ol' glass of milk or steak

The reason we don’t eat dogs and cats is because human developed a mutualist symbiotic relationship with dogs and cats. Cats benefited by protection from predators and free food while they kept vermin away. Dogs acted as security and assistance with hunting as well as companionship in exchange for free room and board.So essentially these animals are worth more to us alive than dead.
