Stop Calling Jesus a good teacher: He was either a Madman, a Conman, or God: you choose.

You can say Jesus was many things, but stop saying he was just a good teacher, or a philosopher, or a nice guy. There are only three choices: madman, conman or God.
Who is Jesus? A philosopher, a spiritual sage, an all around good guy, a great moral teacher? According to C.S. Lewis, there are only three options, and we have to make our choice: Madman, Conman or God. A beggar's take on Lewis' trilemma argument.

Like when says if you only love those who love you what is there special in it ? Today, we are used to hear his teachings but back then it would have been like a light a new light shinning for these people. Plus, let be honest even if we have known these for a long time we still act " normal " by loving those who love us and hate those who hate us. In practice, his teachings are still way ahead of our maturity as humans. Quite a bit farfetched to say that a lunatic teachings would be so still 2000 years after.

We need more videos/articles like these using logic to reinforce the teachings. Instead of telling people “just have faith” or “ignore those thoughts” addressing the doubts and anxieties using logic is far more effective and calming than being told to ignore it. I feel many people have become atheists because their questions weren’t properly addressed and they eventually lost faith. Science doesn’t contradict religion and not every single word and statement in the Bible is meant to be taken at face value. Once people understand those two facts and then are taught the logical explanations their faith will remain strong.

Are you aware that Catholicism is riddled with false, man made doctrine? In the Book of Revelation, 'Mystery Babylon the Great' is a symbol of the Roman Catholic Church, as it also describes it as a city on 'seven hills'. In Revelation 18:4 the LORD himself calls for his people to come out of her so as to not receive the plagues. Ultimately in the end times tribulation, Rome and the Vatican will be destroyed by his wrath. Revelation even says that it will take only an hour for its destruction.

It's the Jewish leaders who cooperated with the Roman Empire (the beast) trying to stamp out the early Christians, and the beast turning on the whore is the Judean war of 66-70 AD that ended with the final destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. Pope Francis, along with all previous popes, proclaims that Jesus is God on a regular basis. No anti-Christ person or organization would ever do that.

For people who say that having a dream about Jesus or God is "just a dream" I have something to say (a lot actually) this "dream" is normally a vision not a "dream" it's a spiritual vision that people can feel someone's existence, hard to explain because I haven't experienced it, my mom did when she passed out once, she was about to die and said she saw a tunnel, she even forgot who she was, but she was calling for God anyway because that's the only thing she knew was right, and then she woke up, that was before she searched up what was an NDE (Near-death experience) and I believe her, I know it's only after I saw the same thing happening to other people, but I didn't doubt her before, my mom is very truthful, she doesn't lie about stuff like this, and even other people had the same exact thing or a little different happen to them, people doubt and say it's a coincidence, but I just think It's them wanting to doubt God's existence and not really paying attention to the truth. If you don't believe in God or what he says, give it a try, if you don't want to, it's your choice!

This is…horrible evidence for god. I don’t doubt that your mom had that experience but there are clear, natural explanations for what caused it. Not to mention the fact people will tend to see their religion’s god in their dreams (visions). I wasn’t even going to comment but the sheer fucking arrogance to claim that people not believing this experience came from a divine deity is because they don’t want to face “the truth” is asinine and you should feel ashamed. You have not validity to this claims and I could do that same garbage back at you: I don’t think you want to accept god isn’t real because it makes you feel better. See, now we’re both assholes!

"why can't he be a madman AND a great moral teacher?" Because his teaching involved you worshipping him as god. If I say 'I am the son of God' to you and then said for you to worship me after developing a cult like following, are you gonna say I'm just a good moral teacher?
@lukew3370
@lukew3370 Жыл бұрын
I mean, I watched the video too, so I understand the argument he's trying to make. The liar option and great moral teacher probably would be mutually exclusive, but if he's just crazy, then his statements describing the nature of his existence would be genuine and not morally bankrupt. Would you call a schizophrenic person immoral for having delusions? Despite those kinds of statements, there's a lot of parables from the bible that show Jesus being morally good and showing others how to be morally good.
@dodleymortune4312
@dodleymortune4312 Жыл бұрын
@@lukew3370 Then if you say he was a mad man who said good things( because schizophrenic people can be moral) that's an other option, but this new option do not change the point of the argument. When one says that Jesus was a good moral teacher they are implying that he was not out of his mind, but that he is not God. If one says that he was mad but he thought good things, no one will oppose this because based on the idea that someone who has mental problem can not do and say good things, but what would tell you is that since he was crazy, you can not follow him as he said: the ultimate master of your life, because despite all the good things this crazy person would have said: dont kill, dont steal, etc. He still would have said some aburds things like: I existed before Abraham, I am life, I will judge the world, I will resurect the dead, I am the only begotten son of God, etc. So even if this same person could say some things it would still be dangerous to follow him IF the shoking phrases he said are not true. A tyrant like Hitler could say some good things also. So, to say that Jesus could have been a madman but still a good teacher, is just the same thing as option A of the video, but only said in a nicer way.

@ReiseLukas

That is not an option if you understood the original language the Scriptures was written. When Jesus alluded to the religious leaders that he had seen Abraham they were baffled. A 30 year old in his time could never have seen Abraham who died thousands of years ago. Jesus replied to them "Before Abraham was, I AM" and they immediately sought to kill him I AM was a name God addressed himself to Moses when he was in the Burning Bush. So saying I AM Jesus was being VERY clear and literal to the Jewish leaders that he outright claimed to be GOD

Have you read text from back then? They are often as, or more smart than anything written by you or by me. Do you genuinly think people in the distant past would have survived without critical thinking? Read articles about this topic, for it seem to be you who lacks the critical thinking here. This is what is called "chronological snobbery". There are as many if not more people today who "lack" this ability, that is they never care enough to learn it. Well, if the Romans were the ones who wanted Jesus crucified at the time, and they did this by convincing Jews to let them do it and Jews were largely monotheistic; Wouldn’t Jesus claiming that he’s the Son of God directly incite the anger of the Jewish people, because that was seen as pagan at the time? So when you think about it: The Roman Empire would’ve actually had quite a vested interest in Jesus being called “the Son of God”, because it means that they could attribute that saying to him, and could convince Jews that Jesus was a “pagan” or “heathen”,so they could thenafter have a reason to crucify Jesus, thereby preventing him from disrupting Rome’s power structure.

They THINK they are correct. They weren't there. The Apostles, now? I've been to the archaeological dig under Saint Peter's 16th century "modern" Basilica. They archaeologists first found, as expected, the ruins of a basilica built by the Emperor Constantine in the 4th century A.D., then a 2nd century inconspicuous monument, covered in Peter-related graffitti (referenced in contemporary Christian literature as marking Peter's tomb). Below that was a 1st century grave, empty but for a niche containing wrapped bones missing the feet. Hypothesis: traditionally Peter asked to be crucified upside down, and soldiers in a hurry might hack them off the awkward dead body of a robust elderly man? I mean, we don't have his dental records to uh, cross check, but that's not BAD as ancient historical/archaeological evidence goes. Hey, maybe Julius Caesar was a sun-myth and the Gauls had the gall to spontaneously surrender to one squad of legionaries without a fight? There's just no such thing as (ghost written?) bad publicity. Maybe? Not. Thoughts?
