Once you send a wire you have no control of the situation. You are better off using a credit card and sucking up the fees. Move on if the dealer refuses credit cards.

while this is true, a bank teller can help with a wire so its done correctly. most dealers don't take card due to fees and the fact that it can be charged back so a wire is usually best.. well when going to the correct person!

@@Peterpic Dealers can purchase insurance that protect against chargebacks and fraud. Why should dealers not have any risk?

@@brianG81 but that’s where the problem is, there’s people that are untrustworthy and they carry risk. Also insurance on chargebacks is a nightmare it’s the same as shipping insurance, chargebacks happen all the time along with various other scams I understand what you’re saying 100% but a real dealer with the product in hand will be a lot more reluctant to ship it until they know they’re fully covered it’s just how it is.

Why can’t sellers (you) wait until the wire, cheque, money transfer etc is cleared before sending off the item? You go to a store, you pay for an item, ( groceries, furniture, watches at boutiques … ) and you bring it home. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Trust the seller. But that doesn’t mean they won’t try to swindle you. The issue I’ve run into is when they misrepresent the condition of the watch, missing links, papers in foreign language. Etc… and this is from popular grey market dealers who show an honest side but in reality con artists trying to make an extra buck. Other than my AD, the best experience I have had is with Swiss Watch Expo.

Then you’ve been buying from the wrong “dealers” it’s a lack of communication everything I list for sale shows exactly what it comes with etc. Some people just don’t want to go the extra step and relay it to the end user which sucks!

Ya, it's crazy to me that people will send money to businesses/dealers who they have doubts about all because they think they are getting 500-1000 off a watch, I will happily pay a little more to know what I am getting, don't buy the watch, buy the seller, it took me 2 years to find my regular watch dealer and I couldn't be happier with all my purchases from him, PS that's the only reason I haven't bought a watch from Peter. I understand your point, but I enjoy seeing what Peter has in stock since most of his watches get sold before going on the website. Remember that Peter is a sole proprietor who makes money from selling watches and his own watch services. Plus, Peter is not charging any fees to watch his channel.
