The internet experts are really trash talking the use of dynos these days. I get that it can take a while to get dyno time, and sometimes you find yourself in a time crunch like we did, but dynos are important part of tuning your build.

Good explanation on dynamic there hopefully u can get the supra dial in and the number will improve 🤙🔧

I’m looking forward to getting it on a dyno. I don’t know how much torque and horsepower it is making right now, but the stage two clutch, which is good enough for 400 tq and had no problem with the car naturally aspirated, is now struggling, and I had to put a second bottle of friction additive in my rear diff.

Hm, I always thought a dyno was just for tuning. Running a car hard and making adjustments to fuel and timing curva and making a car run as hard as it can. I ride a gold wing, 1987, carbs. My but dyno tells me last time I since them I gained a lot. They were way off hahahaha. Also my road dyno against naked 103 Harleys that can't outrun a full dressed 1200 with a bunch shit in the bags until doing 90 mph tells me. Because before they were taking me at around 65. They still can't keep up in the twisties though. I'd be safe to say it's back at factory power, 100hp 80 or so torque.

I did a post the other day in the community page give me an update on what’s going on. The supra was purpose built for this trip unfortunately even though a lot of time and money went into it family comes first.

Who the hell would crucify that? Dynos are necessary!!! If you're just an enthusiast that has maybe $2-3k in your engine then a Dyno may seem like a luxury and that's debatable but mostly true. If you have $12k in your engine and another $8k in your tranny well you better know exactly when your engine is coming on so you know when you change something did the engine really like it or is it just running differently. Hard to explain but it shows in the numbers

I think a lot of the time people think they have way more power than the dyno so rather than accept that they don't have what they think they just trash talk dynos. If you aren't using a dyno to tune I guarantee you are leaving 5-10% or more power on the table.

That was A little over three weeks ago and The Supra that day was running slower then with without the Super charger because it was just dumping fuel into the ports. But that is a modified SRT4 and though they are the most interesting looking car in the world and they aren’t my jam they are pretty quick when modified.

I don’t race but I totally used a dyno to get get the sniper dialed in. I’m not not out to win races with an Edelbrock crate 390 and a sniper but I do like to take it to the track now and then.

Really interested in this project. I have a Soarer with the same engine (thick rod), a 2.3 Whipple that I've yet to throw on, a 16psi pulley, a Wolf ECU and an AR5 manual. It's all in pieces right now as I'm building the harness, but by the end of it, we should have pretty similar results. Difference is you went with the intercooler and I'm a bum and can't afford one yet. I read your opinion on meth and I kinda agree, but I think that's what I'll be going with for now. Subscribed!

Definitely a very similar set up. If you’re not gonna run the intercooler right away definitely run the 85 or pull the heat out of the air similar to meth injection. That means running bigger injectors fuel line and pump but even when you throw a intercooler on it that will also help reduce air temp. Out of curiosity because I don’t know much about sc platforms what are you doing for weight reduction.

@@LunarOutlawsGarage Noted! As for weight, it's not a massive priority to me. I love all of the luxuries these came with. It'll just remain a nice streeter. I will be replacing the heavy electric seats though, as well as the hood and front fenders for fibreglass. More boost (when I get the intercooler) should compensate a bit, haha

Have you considered water methonal injection? The air temperature could be messing with the tune.

Kind of the same reason why I’m not a big fan of nitrous oxide even though cars that run nitrous oxide smell freaking awesome when they go down the track. But not a fan of supplements that aren’t there all the time. I get it they’re cheap power but meh
