Living in Japan and I can’t get any 151, I loved VStar so much. If I had to pick one it’d be VStar still such an incredible set to me. Love you my man keep it up.

I pulled that pikachu art out of Crown Zenith though. Plus I gotta say, the reason I am getting back into pokemon cards is because of 151 and the nostalgia. I see 151 being a huge collectors item. Could even see them making a 151 set each time they release a new series (scarlet & violet, then the next, etc) and making full arts of each pokemon in 151 eventually. That would be siiick.

Did you completely forget about the Master Ball aspect of 151? These are guaranteed 1 per booster box and the big hitters are in the hundreds of dollars due to rarity. Far more likely than the god packs of V-Star Universe. Even regular masterball commons are still around $20. This mechanic along with the nostalgia aspect puts 151 above V-Star Universe.

Yes you are Guranteed a masterball each booster box of 151. You either missed it or it wasnt a sealed box.@@zachteding9970

I feel like both these sets are going to do well in the long run. But if you gave me a choice to buy a box of either one right now, I'd buy VStar Universe. Japanese specialty sets are such a joy to open!

Actually Vstar is the set that brought me back into pokemon. Was at the local shop with the kids and it caught my eye. I bought a binder and a box and have only collected Vstar since then. You hit the nail on the head. There is just something about knowing every pack has a hit and every box has something to look forward to. I personally have only opened 2 of them, but they are great fun

Value is driven by basic economics of supply and demand. If it’s harder to pull and not guaranteed, then it will be worth more in the long run. Not to mention 151 has base set nostalgia.

Don’t forget the Masterball reverse holos in 151. Like the Pikachu in VStar Universe, I like it that more humble cards can have value.

The other thing to consider is the English release of 151 isnt out yet so It could have a huge impact on the value of the Japanese release

151 has that nostalgia which helps it initially. In the long run with the variety of really nice cards at the top vstar I think holds its value a little better.

Honestly agree with a lot of what you said, but you gotta look at the masterballs. That's a HUGE swing that you never mentioned. Plus look at XY evolutions, people love the OG pokemon so this alone will drive it above Vstar universe. I think both sets will do well but 151 I think will be worth more overtime.

In my opinion, I believe Vstar Universe also has better quality of texture on the cards compared to 151. I noticed the quality isn't the same with any Scarlet and Violet sets.

Both are great and I think from a long term perspective your point about the God Pack uniqueness of VStar will make it a better investment from a sealed standpoint. I think opened product though 151 edges it out with Masterball mechanic creating a set where the value is well distributed.

My opinion is 151. The box design is awesome and it makes it visually attractive to open it any time. Imagine a few years later, you see an unopened box with shrink wrap on both designs. 151 stands out in my opinion! :)

V star universe is my favorite Japanese set right now. I'm waiting for 151 to drop which I'm hoping will happen when English 151 drops. But for sure want to stock up more on each set.

Honestly. With how great sets these days are, with gorgeous artworks, makes it so hard to decide for someone who got back into collecting a few months ago 😅 Hopefully the reprints rumours are true and I'll be able to snag both sets at a good price range! Even so, Vstar ia currently at a affordable price for me, so picking it up 100%!

Definitely needs mentioning. Only buy sealed booster boxes. I know this is hard to find because retailers in Japan are cutting the shrink at purchase, as well as this drives your cost up, but it can't be said enough. Japanese 151 can be weighed. You don't want to get unsealed boxes. 151 hands down winner though IMO.

I love vstar universe just because you get a hit in each pack, but 151 has to be best SV set. Edit: I love VSTAR god packs you can get pikachu god pack or AR AND SAR god pack. That's why I like it

just wait the 22.09 that 151 would be available for the rest of the world. Im pretty sure 151 IS the set where you have to invest. So many reasons ! - Master Ball which had insane rarity pull rate and so many cards ( look how expensive could be a pikachu, gengar or erika master ball ! ) - Come back from Kadabra. Which wasnt there since 21 years. - Nostalgia aspect from every Pokemon Fan. All our Pokemon adventures began with 151. Thats the reality. - At release from Vstar universe in japan you didnt have all this craziness around the set like it was for 151. In japan it was really really hard time with this set. - EACH illustrations are really really crazy even commons or uncommons not only RARE cards. AND each pokemon in the same evolution line WAS DRAWEN by the same illustrator which create an insane homogenity in each binder from everyone. Vstar Universe had good cards for sure, but when you summerize each different aspect, 151 is really strong. AND dont forget, 151 is only out since the 16th June. Let this set be older. Trust me. You only forgot the masterball cards the can go for 100s of dollars to. V stars comes with a guaranteed S.A.R but 151 comes guaranteed with the masterball. So i think value in the end is almost the same

totally desagree with you, i love U man, but you forget to speak about the craziness from the Master Ball rarity in 151. And 151 has a real strong position because its not only a reprint from the base set like XY evolutions, its a complete new set about all Kanto pokemon AND with KADABRA AGAIN !! its not the most rare card in the set, but its a pokemon card you couldnt have since 20 years. 151 create an amazing craziness in japan at release, im really curious to see how it would be at the 22/09 for the rest of the world. My horse in this race is definitely 151.

For me its 151 to the moon. Even if i dont get any of the big hits in 151 when i open the packs, im not mad at any of the cards i pull. Compared to vstar… theres a lot of cards i just do not want to collect in the set. Just my opinion though.

We have enough 151, pre-orders here in the Netherlands. Every one can enjoy. I prefer English cards to collect because I understand it and it's a world language. Only exclusive cards are fun to collect in other languages. Enjoy opening a bungee of vintage remasters in September and October😋

I have to vote for 151. I'm just biased a little because i grew up with the og cards, and 151 reminds me of them days. Great video, can't wait till the next one.
